Jerry, If you are seeking covers in the metallic red I would try to get a sample of the vinyl from them to make sure it’s close enough to the original to satisfy you. The wait is a real pain with Legendary but they do get their covers right. Mine I just installed were pretty much perfect.
Yes, I would try it. Have you actually driven the truck on the road? If so, does it bog or hesitate when you suddenly push the pedal to the carpet?
And ultimately figure out the low idle vacuum, and less cam or more gear.
You need a bigger accelerator pump shooter and/or move the link to the inside hole on an Edelbrock, or on a Holley style carb, possible a different pump cam, larger shooter and maybe a larger size pump.
If you are changing the carb out to this Brawler 850 you might as well wait to see what it...
That’s what I was addressing - you wrote “But still hits 18+ when pedal mashed” - that’s due to not enough accelerator pump delivery causing it to go lean when you mash the throttle.
The low vacuum issue is manifold vacuum which primarily affects idle and initial transition circuits. Once you are in the throttle and the engine is sucking air the carb secondary and primary circuits are pulled in and they operate off of Venturi vacuum which is more a function of carb throat...
The initial 18 AFR is probably the accelerator pump not delivering a big enough shot. See what squirter you have and step up to a bigger one. If the rod isn’t on the inside hole nearest the pump you can move it to that to get a bigger shot, but it will be of less duration and that’s why a...
I got the back panels done. It’s kind of nerve wracking digging out the cardboard pocket. Even though Legendary perforates the cardboard it looks like they perforated it nearly all the way through. On the edge I measured the cardboard at about .130-.135” which is kind of an odd dimension...
I plan on installing the clips, or at least try to. I’ll see how it goes removing the initial layer of board and cutting the pocket. Not sure the small screwdriver with a curved (bent) tip is up to the job. I’ll try sharpening it and if that isn’t effective, fabricate a tool from a piece of...
I wish these threads would post a description of the ship, plane, tank, etc when available. Some of this stuff is really unique and near impossible to identify.
I have a new RAM and I hate how big and tall pickups have gotten. Remember the days when you could lean on the top of the bed rail and pick up something off the middle of the bed floor? I did get air suspension so I can drop the truck down 2-3” from normal height. But I do most of my hauling...
Scott, that’s some of the questions I’m asking about, asking if anyone has tried it and if so, how did it work. I’ve read that the Legendary panels board is not as tough and durable as the originals and prone to clip damage from removal and installation. Also that the process of removing part...
I’ve been researching for tips for installing the multitude of mounting clips on new door and quarter trim panels. I know what Legendary says to do but it seems like I’m going to end up with lumps under the vinyl at a lot of the clip locations no matter how careful I am. Read a couple of...
Very good point. Vacuum of 5-6 Hg is pretty low. My 427 Corvette has an old mechanical cam of 256/266 degrees, .579/.600 lift and even it manages 8”. The .509 lift purple cam is rated at 248 duration so I would think it should pull at least 8 or 9” vacuum, maybe a bit more. Since your idle...
