gschmidt211 07-01-2010, 08:56 PM This is not my car, I took the picture at a show about two weeks ago. It is an original GY8 car. My 1972 Charger Rallye is also GY8. I do not see many around.
gschmidt211 07-01-2010, 08:57 PM Butterscotch also rocks.

msb0824 07-04-2010, 06:19 PM Here are a black and GB5 Blue '71 GTX taken at the Lead East show in Sept. 2009. The blue one belongs to my brother, which has been in the family since purchased new by my other brother. My GTX is nearly a twin and should be ready in a few weeks.

very cool
scotts74birds 07-07-2010, 07:20 PM Hey Droptop! Love the B-on-B! Awesome job! Was looking at the same thing for my 74. Maybe have the stripes done in a gun-metal gray, or flat black for that barely-there look. then black steelies with chrome nuts, or just dog dishes. Less is more!
74sundance 07-07-2010, 07:39 PM I don't really have a lot of 71-72 B-body pic's but I hope this will help.

tom383 07-07-2010, 08:42 PM How about black on black on black?
I am going to do black, with the black interior i have. I have brand new black carpet, and wanna do some newer style black buckets. it already has a new black headliner installed, and a recovered rear seat too. I also have the front spoilers and some new hood pins that just came in from dales cuda shop!
It does have a hole in the hood due to the hi rise intake and carb, so i have a single street style scoop with the red butterflies. gonna keep the hood a satin black, and kinda go with a flat black/gloss block theme. And i have a brand new set of 18" torque thurst style boss wheels. should look cool!
ill post pics next week when its back from paint!
74sundance 07-08-2010, 06:26 AM I don't think it was but it sure does look good, check out some more pic's of it.

WileERobby 07-20-2010, 09:13 PM Sundance, I love the "Plymouth" decal, but was that an option anywhere? No, it wasn't. Back in the 70's, we started putting the decal on the rear qtrs, afer seeing Petty's car with it.
tom383 07-28-2010, 02:03 PM car came back from paint. it is a daily driver, and i dont a show car right now so i took it to maaco. looks ok. a lot better than it did, but i wish i had some body work done....a lot of little flaws i didnt even realize were there. BUT, i cant wait to be back on the road and drive it again. I'm sure I'll get some decent bodywork done in the future, but I cant stand seeing all these cars on the road and not having one, plus college tuition comes first. Ill post some more pictures later, but heres one from the paint shop...

Maaco uses quality paint products and most of the time, they shoot a very good to excellent coat of paint. Unfortunately, they do not do a great prep job before painting. You do get what you pay for. IMO black is the absolute worst color to paint a car that isn't laser straight because it shows even minor flaws. I have had a couple great experiences with Maaco painted cars, but the cars were prepped and ready for paint before they left for the Maaco shop. I currently have a 72 Sat getting prepped for paint, and Maaco is high on my list of possible painters for this car. I think a great looking paint job is 90% or more due to meticulous body preparation before the paint. Enjoy what you've got, knowing it looks better than it did, and better than a lot of whatever else is out there.
