I'm not necessarily talking about YOUR 15 minutes, but who have you met. Or almost met. Or wound up taking a piss next to in the men's room at some restaurant in Hollyweird

I had breakfast with Vincent Price while doing some work at the Frisco airport. Got a Happy 30th B-day wish from Frank Zappa
SEEN a bunch of people...John Dutton (friendly), Emmit Smith (friendly), Bobby Newhouse (not so much), Roger Staubach (friendly) Jose Feliciano, Peter and Wolfgang Porsche (friendly) Peter Schutz (was Prez. of Porsche A.G. at the time)

Hung with Ron Mancini, Jack Werst, Jerry Stein. Even had my fingers in the motor of Ron's 62 Dodge Maxi. How often you get to get greasy with someone like that.

I'm sure I'm forgetting a bunch, but it's a start.

So what's ya got????

I've met some famous tv/movie personalities and a bunch of racers over the years. Everyone seemed cool.

Much like Nobama what you said isn't what you actually meant.

I'm not worried about Moparts, just here. And if you'd like, I can arrange a nice vacation for you

Btw...It seems Patton was in Sicily in January of 1944. Guess you were there on vacation.

Met the Big Daddy Don Garlits at a autograph session at a route 66 car show a couple yrs back in Spfld. IL and got his autograph on a swamp Rat poster. I know it's not much compared to others here but it was neat for me since I grew up watching him run his swamp rat but never actually saw him in person.

No, that's pretty cool. Garlits was here as our "guest" for our club's annual show. He brought the rig with one of the SR's inside. They tried to unload the car, but had a major problem with the door on the truck.

Rather than be the big shot" and hang in the truck while some of the crew worked on the door, he was back there with a sledge and a torch trying to get the car out. and when they DID get it out, they fired it up in the service drive of the dealership where we used to hold the show.

WOW was it loud.

Didn't get his autograph, or a pic, or nuthin

My job as a charter pilot has given me the opportunity to meet some notable people. I've flown some Hollywood and music personalities, some sports figures and a few Washington insiders.
But my personal "most memorable" would be, Mister "the Right Stuff" himself, Chuck Yeager. About 3 years ago I flew him from Texas to California . He happened to be in a talkative mood, and came up to the cockpit and spoke with the Capt and myself for about 30 minutes about his early years in aviation.

For me it's mostly been car celebrities. Met John Force, Darrell Alderman, Scott Geoffion (R.I.P.), literally almost punched out Warren Johnson (held back by security). Bucky Hess, Ray Barton, Mr. Norm, Tom Hoover and most recently former Ramcharger driver/NHRA record holder and Chrysler race engine engineer Mike Buckel (one of the nicest most helpful guys on the planet!)

I fly a LOT so I see lots of celebrities on airplanes and in airports, but I've actually had conversations with George Steinbrenner (much nicer than what I had expected based on the media's portrayal of him), Warrck Dunn (NFL), and actors John Forsythe and Jon Voight.

As for automotive Celebrities I've met Billy Gibbons (also known for bending a guitar string or two...), Arlen Vanke, Big Daddy, and Bob Riggle. I've "met" countless others in the pits, etc., but these are the only ones that I have enjoyed lengthy conversations with.

I'm sure I'm forgetting some but these are the ones that quickly came to mind...Oh, and I've met 69 runner, our Moderator Extraordinaire... Figured I'd suck up a little so as to not be offered one of those vacation deals...

Patton also visited his officers, that were wounded at USA Hosp Walter Reed, when called back to the Pentagon, prior to moving from North Africa to Italy...(when he almost lost his command for bitching over the stragety for landing in Sicily....)

where I met him with my dad.....(one of his field Artillery commanders and in his chain of command)....

I think you might be letting the questioning of the timing of your encounter with Patton get under your skin just a bit. Another thought; maybe it was George C. Scott you ran into...

Tem:
That was a nice little vacation to Texas. However, some clown in a primered '69 Road Runner decided to tailgate me for half of the trip so that got a little tiresome...nuthin' but an old grey Plymouth in my rear view mirror for 1,200 miles...:steering:
No worries on the hood pins; if you find them you find them...
