Do you still have the "Hefty Hemi"? Looks like it might have started it's racing, early in life. Love those '64s :) 70WM21 W1 V6B 07-14-2010, 08:11 PM Is this car still around? Do you still have the "Hefty Hemi"? Looks like it might have started it's racing, early in life. Love those '64s :) I doubt the Police cars are still around. The Hefty Hemi 64 was sold to Dave Drummond a number of years ago. I had stripped the paint down after that picture and it had red white and blue candy stripes on it but no names. Ray Beraducci had raced it at Quaker City & Ohio Drag City for many years. It ran in the Mid 10's no juice. The car last I heard ended up on the west coast somewhere, painted White I believe. It had a max wedge glass hood and doors ( OLD heavy and full braced may have been factory parts? )They were not lightweight race glass gutted pieces. I did get a race glass deck lid for it from Walt Saari. The rest of the car was steel and rust free. khryslerkid 07-14-2010, 08:16 PM That's pretty Cool. These cars don't need no "Juice" They have plenty of "Guts"! Do you know where the "Hefty Hemi" got it's start? scotts74birds 07-14-2010, 08:29 PM Wow, $32.70 for a "Sure-Grip" rear-end! What a gyp! 70WM21 W1 V6B 07-15-2010, 09:38 AM That's pretty Cool. These cars don't need no "Juice" They have plenty of "Guts"! Do you know where the "Hefty Hemi" got it's start? The Hefty Hemi as raced under that name was owned and raced by Ray Beraducci, of Youngstown Ohio, and the Hemi built by Carlon Hine of Kinsman. I will have to ask Ray about the past history of it. http://www.quicksilverdiecast.com/catalog/raybera.jpg This Charger replaced the 64 http://www.quicksilverdiecast.com/catalog/raybera2.jpg Carlon Hines 024 Omni. RK41 03-09-2012, 06:21 PM I know this thread is old, but just joined and thought I would share this, and yes, it is real. moparmarks 03-09-2012, 06:48 PM Way cool. I realy like the 71 Cutstom's grill and nose. moparmarks 03-09-2012, 06:51 PM It's funny how the 71 4-doors got the earlier horn ring or is that just a cop car thing in 71? Just pulled one like that off a 71 Polara cop car. Never see one on a 71 2-door. dangina 03-09-2012, 07:56 PM great car!!! Ron 73 03-09-2012, 08:54 PM X 2 with the grill.. That whole car looks great! RK41 03-10-2012, 07:30 AM This is a base model and is 100% correct down to every screw and bolt, numbers matching, build sheet, on and on. Only moulding is the small one under the doors. Build sheet found between ft bumper and bumper mount after 40 years! Even floor mat is puncture free and original. I will post some more photos later. myaerocars 03-10-2012, 07:51 AM That police car is amazing! I would love to have a car like that. Too many projects now but I can see me having a nice police car one day. e I drive a ex South Carolina "slick top" silver frost Crown Victoria as my daily car and love it. Can I get a few more pics of it..... I have a file just for police cars as my favorite TV show is Adam-12. Again, great work! Godspeed, JON RK41 03-10-2012, 05:22 PM A few more, note rear axle sway bar. the horn ring a 1970 model was standard on all PD RK models so the driver could use the large horn ring to activate the siren or horn. Oprions on ALL LAPD cars in 1971 included the largest engine, 383 Super Comando, 727, air, F38 F51 J52 U25 y35 specail order, ft power disc and rear 11" station wagon brakes, all clear glass. this car had buils sheets from three other S.O. cars under the rear seat cushion. It really handles and is very tight. I planon entering it at Wodley Park show in April. Last time it won the Mopar Action mag award, over 300K HEMI cars. Generally it is shown at benifit events. RK41 03-10-2012, 05:26 PM More per ur request. moparmarks 03-10-2012, 06:51 PM An awesome time capsule. I usually don't get over to the show field at the meets but will be sure to check it out at the Fling. Would like to get many pics. Great referance piece. moparmarks 03-10-2012, 06:53 PM Broadcast sheet behind the bumper? Which plant did it come from? moparmarks 03-10-2012, 06:57 PM It that a factory overflow bottle on the pass well? Whats the one behind it? Never seen those on a 71. The 72 only bottle is on the left well. Ya I'm really going to enjoy seeing tis car. pabster 03-10-2012, 08:47 PM Wow. A Mopar I've never seen before. That car is BAD ASS, RK41. It's great to see you taking such care of such a pristine machine. Well done, sir. MarPar 03-10-2012, 11:53 PM It that a factory overflow bottle on the pass well? Whats the one behind it? Never seen those on a 71. The 72 only bottle is on the left well. Ya I'm really going to enjoy seeing tis car. the one behind it looks like a filter/dryer of some sort...maybe for the a/c?? either way, sweet ride!!! im glad to see a cop car from the outside instead of seeing the back of the front seat!!! lol :pink banana: RK41 03-11-2012, 07:34 AM The overflow container is new and replaced the exact rotted one installed by LAPD when the cars were delivered. About 50 photos were taken when purchased and used to rebuild the car, so nothing is out of place, heads were never off of the car. the engine was not bored as it was within spec at 102,000 miles. LAPD changes oil ever 3,000 miles. And yes, build sheet behind bumper, all original sheet metal, trunk not respored, sort of a time capsule with unused jack, LAPD wood block to prevent car from rolling, and Cooper replacement tire on original H stamped rim. A rubber stamp marking from the St Louis plant can be seen under the deck lid, Glacial Blue Metallic, NOS dark blue seat insert materail from SMS, dash redone by CV Vaccum Platers in Canada, also better than NOS Rims have stainless steel valve stems, manual steering PDB, antenna in fender if a disguise antenna for PD radio, siren, magnet red light is 1971 original along with amber and LAPD made mounts. This car is basically flawless and can be used as a point of correctness to build other B Bodies. this car contains 22,500 parts, all rebuilt by hand. Unless something stupid happens, it will be at Spring Fling, Sunday only. myaerocars 03-11-2012, 07:48 PM thanks for posting more pics! Awesome job. :headbang: Godspeed, JON | |||
