AdamR 10-07-2008, 08:14 PM Since Im not doing any B bodies in the shop right now I thought I would share some E body pictures.
The car is a 74 Barracuda. I believe it was a 318, auto. Now set up fpr a 4 speed. The car has been to 2 other shops before ours, Dry stripped twice, Painted 5 shades of yellow, full of runs and dirt. The last resto ended in a law suit that took 5 years to get it here. He had it restripped and dropped it off to us.
The car had new quarters on it when we got it which needed a ton of straightening. Looks to have had the floor boards replaced and the trunk patched. Anyone with an E body, I must say the Goodmark fenders that are on it are pretty good.
When I started at the shop the car was in its first coat of primer with no sheet metal bolted up front.
My first step was to start bolting up the new fenders and get it all lined up.

next was fitting the rear valance which was all ready reworked to fit by the last shop. He also brought a new one incase but it wasnt even close to fitting correctly.

AdamR 10-07-2008, 08:15 PM Next I started blocking the car out. I started with 180 grit on a long block. I use a set of Dura-Blocks I bought off of ebay for around $30, they use adhesive backed long board paper and come in different lengths. thicknesses and shapes.

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a216/adamr78/026.jpg
Heres were I am now. I re primed the entire car with a 2K primer and started round 2 of blocking, again with 180.

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a216/adamr78/007.jpg
I run a line of tape down the body line to keep from sanding it down. This really helps make the sharp and straight,

The hood had to be the hardest part to block. It also turned out to need the most work.

Chris-Turbo 10-07-2008, 08:20 PM Nice work !
Wanna see more next... :)
AdamR 10-07-2008, 08:26 PM Will do. I need to block it out 2 more times still. Then the front end comes off to paint the backs of the fenders and valances. Then back together, Jam it and paint it.
I also have a 71 N code Barracuda in the shop as well as the 36 Chevy you see in some of the pics.
When you do the metal work do you flat file the areas down to 80 then start priming?
charger70 10-07-2008, 10:39 PM Finally he got a break gettn it to a mopar guy.
Are you going to do final assembly too, or just up thru paint?
What color?

I grind it down to metal before doing any welding or 90% of my filling. If theres a small spot that needs a bit of touch up (something that wont block out) I'll put a thin skim over the primer. I much rather do it over bare metal though.

were just doing paint on this one. Right now he says B5 blue but its been changes 4 times so far ,LOL
AdamR 11-12-2008, 05:59 AM Figured I would update. I blocked the car 3 more times after those pictures, 220,320,400 wet. The primer was all most shiny when I was done. Its amazing paint will stick to such a smooth surface but the shop next store goes to 800 wet before paint.
Heres some pictures. The color is 09 Dodge Inferno red.

AdamR 11-26-2008, 07:37 PM Yes it will. Its getting some Magnum 500 rims and a black 74 Cuda stripe that will brake it up nicely.
69 Runner 11-26-2008, 08:00 PM sweet
charger70 11-26-2008, 10:08 PM Nice Job!
Pats on the back all around.
74Satellite 02-24-2009, 09:52 AM Adam, where can I get a set of those front wheel castors? I need a pair to move my '73 roadrunner around while I am working on it.
AdamR 02-25-2009, 07:12 AM The owner made them.
74Satellite 02-25-2009, 10:25 AM Anyone know where I can get a pair or where to get the materials/dimensions to have a set made? Those would be perfect so I can drop the suspension and move the car around....
AdamR 02-26-2009, 06:25 AM I think US Car tool sells something all ready made. Other wise a trip to the steel yard or a local fabricating shop for the metal and Harbor Freight or perhaps Home Depot for the casters.
5.7 hemi 02-27-2009, 12:06 AM Sweeeeettttt!!!!
