Has anybody tried this - ammeter?

Just curious if anyone had tried this. My red wire is melted, the amp gauge is brown (white face overlayed), the light bulb socket is melted and the circuit board is discolored.

I have a donor cluster for parts, and I'm looking to redo the wiring and seal the windsheild to keep any water from coming in.

yep, did the ammeter bypass and it works awesome. take his advice though, don't cheese out and scotch-lok and crimp connect everything, use good connectors, SOLDER everything, and use good heat shrink, the kind with the sealer inside. if you don't you'll own an expensive roadside barbeque!
