Hi blokes,

This 440 is currently on Ebay and I'm seriously considering having a crack at it. If anyone see's anything of interest in the pics be it good or bad, please let me know.

It's probably pricey for a similar engine in the US but just to give you an idea, 440 long motors here in Oz needing rebuild go for around $1200-$1500, this one appears to be good to go for an instant horsepower injection.

Thanks mates!

It looks like a great drop in, but without hearing it run I would plan on a rebuild.
Even if you can hear it run I would plan on a rebuild.
IF you buy any used engine period, plan on a rebuild.
So my advise is...plan on a rebuild. I would rather be wrong on not needing a rebuild then to spend like it doesn't need a rebuild and find out it does.

For a pessimist, I am pretty optimistic about this...

13 hours left now...
A bone stock 440 from a motorhome will probably not be the horsepower injection you wish for. And do you got a tranny that fits?
Then I think the first thing you have to buy is a new distributer, new intake, new headers and a new carburator, and probably a new camshaft too, and when you replacing all that it is wise to do a complete rebuild...
BUT why not put in a hotter cam in you smallblock instead, it seems to have "all" the other parts I wrote about? I had a 340 that was a real screamer, with a 10" converter and 4,56 it was a killer on the street! I am sure you can get that smallblock to sing for a fair price compared to that 440. And you donīt have do change transmission, exhaust re route, extra long lower radiator hose et.cetera
But a bigblock is a bigblock ;-)

Thanks blokes!

Stappy, you know I think your onto something there mate. I think I'll hold off and get a rebuilt engine that I don't have to worry about, after all, whats the bloody rush as the 318 is running great.

I found this bloke on Ebay over at Niagara Falls, he builds Mopar engines too, has anyone heard of him?

Here's another option that's looking more and more attractive,

Any opinions on this one,

I don't know the first thing about building engines but I know people who do that would help me put it all together. It's an option.

Screw getting some clunker motorhome engine over here, there are much better options Stateside! I can get an engine shipped to Australia for around $450.
