BOSSHEMI 08-25-2010, 09:27 AM Started a new project and have been working on it for sometime. Its a 68 Dodge Charger RT. We are turning this car into a Protouring with a 605cid Hemi backed by a Viper 6 Speed and a Dana 60 rear. Here are some pics of what we started with.

moparstuart 08-25-2010, 10:15 AM wow awesome project , I just love 68's
ChgrSteve67 08-25-2010, 11:08 AM It always amazes me when people cut up a car to that extent and actually get it all put back together.
Looks great keep up the good work.

:yes::yes: it looked pretty decent to begin with also
BOSSHEMI 08-25-2010, 11:19 AM if you look at the second pic the 1/4 was patched a few times and the floor was so thinned. Car is going to make over 800hp so it has to be perfect
detmatt1 08-25-2010, 06:21 PM Wow that is going to be one sweet car, nice work keep the pics coming.
iraqivet01 08-25-2010, 06:49 PM Wow, some serious welding going on there. I thought Donny was the only one who cut up cars, keep the A pillar and replace everything else.
I going to be embarrassed to showing my car on this site if you keep this up.
1badgtx 08-25-2010, 08:25 PM 68 is the best year for the charger...Just like the movie bullet, the ford had to be pumped up to be able to keep up with the charger...Any idea on color?Black on black with a red stripe is my vote!!!!
67 gtx

The Charger is going back to the factory 68 blue, pearl white int. with a white painted on 68 RT stripe.
We want the car to look "stock", so the wheels we picked are Budnik Wheels that we got for the Charger. The center "triangles" will be powder coated black. They resemble the original magnum 500 wheels. Fronts are a 18x8 running a 245/40 tire, rear rims are 19x11 running a 345/35 tire.

19667CORONET 09-14-2010, 09:55 AM Great job so far sweet!!!!! Can't wait to see it done keep us posted.
q-ship 09-14-2010, 02:21 PM Just an observation: You plan to put 800 HP with a manual trans and big tires (= hook), yet you haven't even seam welded all the frame/body seams, or reinforced the firewall/A-pillar/cowl joints, some form of torque box stiffening, tying the sub frame connectors to the rocker panels, replacing the rear seat webbing/reinforcement with boxed tubing, etc?
I understand that the welding isn't finished yet as the rear shock mount crossmember isn't installed, so I'm speaking prematurely and I don't really mean to be negative, but I do more than that for a street car.
Whats done so far looks good though. I look forward to seeing the final package.
