How do I hook it up? I have a 3 pin switch(727) and the center one goes to something but what? My Cheetah shifter instructions show the wire from the switch going to the starter selanoid. I thought I hooked it up right but it still turns over/started so any ideas. I will check the instructions again maybe I missed something.

The first is the instructions that came with my shifter. The second shows where I connected the wire. It is the bottom black one with the lite blue connector end.

I traced the other wires. Their pic of the relay is upside down to the one I have on the fireway. The top post(battery) goes to the bulkhead. The center post goes to starter soleniod. The blue wire(key) goes to bulkhead. And I hooked my wire to the ground wire.

The only thing that I can think is that I need to run a wire straight to the battery like it shows but I was thinking the one going to bulkhead went there just not a straight shot.

your 65 coronet needs a 1 wire nuetral safety switch.from the nuetral switch to the relay on the firewall.
does it start in any gear?
the center pin on the 3 wire nuetral switch is the one to the relay.

Yes it starts in gear(3rd).

I have one wire(center pin) to the relay(G). I am lost/confussed:icon_axe:

Does this help?

you need the wire from the center pin to the terminal labeled "G" on your solonoid. If it starts when not in neutral like that, disconnect th wire- if it still starts your relay is bad. If not the shifter is misadjusted, the switch is not screwed in all the way or the switch is shorted....

Thanks Fugly at least that gives me some ideas as to what to check.

I will check into the relay. The other trans I had never the switch hooked up so I don't know if my relay is good. I went through all the gears on the trans by hand so I think the shifter is adjusted right. Rick Allison(A&A trans) built the trans and I told him the application so I wouldn't think it is the switch but you never know. I am going to make sure that I have a good connection on the switch.

you can test the switch on the trans with an ohm meter or powered test light- ground one lead and hook the other to the center pin- it should show a direct short in neutral and park and an open circuit in all other gears. If not , unscrew it and push the plunger by hand - pushed in should ground it and out should be open. ( trans will dump fluid if you don't drain it first) Rick does good work, but damaging a switch in shipping is not unheard of.
