When that page comes up scroll down to the bottom were it says "or just copy this link." You should then be able to copy that link into your Ebay ad text unless they are now blocking this ability. Ebay is now making a lot of changes that are driving sellers away. You might want to check this Moparts thread. http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=4765475&an=0&page=0#Post4765475 Also I sent the original poster the below email. I think you are going to see a lot more of this kind of "talk" on the Internet, it is a fantastic tool for getting a message out quickly to consumer that are unhappy with Ebay. I think the time is ripe for a new player to step up and create a new auction site that will do things the same way that made Ebay so sucessful BEFORE they got so greedy. Take a look at my Ebay ad and the payment information. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&item=190262698299 This is a pile of shit and I truely believe it is illegal. I hope some attorney gets a hold of this and takes it to task. Ebay has gotten so hugh that they think the sellers that use them can't live without them. If they keep this crap up they will eventually find out that the power of the Internet is not just to their advantage. There will be some new kid on the block that will begin using the FREE press of the net and will be scooping up their past customers that are fed up with all of this. I can see it now, EBAY USERS UNIT!! Will be the new chant and it will cause a serious dent in their business possibly to 2nd or 3rd position in the online auction business if they don't back off. The world got along without them before and it won't stop turning without them. Darryl Histoy 10-30-2008, 02:52 PM I've been buying and selling on eBay for several years. We had problems with people trying to get personal info for our Paypal account, so we dropped it. I will no longer use eBay, because of their Paypal only payment system. I hope they drop that requirement soon. 696pack 10-30-2008, 07:25 PM I've been buying and selling on eBay for several years. I hope they drop that requirement soon. If you look at the new policy it is not just PayPal that is required. They give you a choice of it, ProPay, accepting credit cars, etc. The bottom line is, they are an AUCTION web site, they should not be dictating how sellers recieve or how buyers pay for the items. Since they bought PayPal they have been pushing its use on sellers and buyers. I don't even think what they are doing is legal as I would THINK that it is an infringement of the free enterprise laws. 1badstroker 10-30-2008, 08:05 PM E-bay sucks with there bullsh-t rules and regulations. I have not bought anything on E-bay in a couple of years and had no trouble getting parts at a decent price and no headaches getting it done. eldubb440 10-30-2008, 08:20 PM i just listed a motorcycle for 10 days..........i wont let the auction finish..........but its cheap world wide exposure OHD 10-31-2008, 06:18 AM Many if not most high dollar parts and accessories are traded outside of eBay. Just list the stuff on a good bulletin Board and click away at it, It drives it to the top when people do a google search. You get a comparable number of REAL buyers looking ...instead of the eBay browsers and the parts sell faster. Seems the more unique the parts the better it works. A group of guys I know switched to this method in Jan and have done very well. The key is to get your people to click on the add to keep it on the front page of the google search.. Everybody knows what the ebay charges are and will go around them at every chance. The seller gets what he needs and the buyer gets the stuff, the middle mans 10-15% are split....both are more satisfied. markmopar 11-02-2008, 06:22 PM I will no longer use eBay, because of their Paypal only payment system. I hope they drop that requirement soon. What are you referring to? There is no Paypal requirement. There was an idea to go that way and it was tested in Australia. It failed. I've been using eBay for years and just finshed a dozen or so auctions. I can find no requirement to use Paypal. Most of my buyers did use it, but a couple sent money orders. from eBay's accepted fees policy page: http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/accepted-payments-policy.html "Enforcement grace period for sellers: Starting October 20, 2008 only permitted payment methods will be displayed in the payment details section of listings. Sellers will need to remove all references to non-permitted payment methods from item descriptions. We know that this is a busy time of year for sellers, so to allow sufficient time to change templates, we will wait until January 15, 2009 before we begin taking action against sellers soliciting non-permitted payment methods within the item description of listings. Permitted on eBay.com: Sellers must offer to accept one or more of the following payment choices: * PayPal * Credit or debit card processed through an Internet merchant account * ProPay Sellers may in addition offer to accept: * Payment upon pickup For specific categories, sellers may also offer to accept: * Bank-to-bank transfers (also known as bank wire transfers and bank cash transfers) * Checks * Money orders * Any of the following online payment services: Allpay.net, cash2india, CertaPay, Checkfree.com, hyperwallet.com, Moneybookers.com, Nochex.com, Ozpay.biz, Paymate.com.au, XOOM These payment choices may be offered only for items in the following categories: * Motors > Cars & Trucks * Motors > Motorcycles * Motors > Powersports * Motors > Boats * Motors > Other Vehicles & Trailers * Business & Industrial > Agriculture & Forestry > Tractors & Farm Machinery * Business & Industrial > Construction > Heavy Equipment, Trailers * Business & Industrial > Food Service & Retail > Concession Trailers & Carts * Business & Industrial > Healthcare, Lab & Life Science > Imaging & Aesthetics Equipment * Business & Industrial > Industrial Supply, MRO > Fork Lifts & Other Lifts * Business & Industrial > Manufacturing & Metalworking > Manufacturing Equipment * Business & Industrial > Manufacturing & Metalworking > Metalworking Equipment * Business & Industrial > Office, Printing & Shipping > Commercial Printing Presses * Real Estate * Adult Only Not permitted on eBay.com Sellers may not solicit: * Buyers to mail cash. * Buyers to send cash or money orders through instant cash transfer services (non-bank, point-to-point cash transfers) such as Western Union or MoneyGram. * Buyers to mail checks or money orders (except for items in categories specifically permitted above) * Payment through bank-to-bank transfers (except for items in categories specifically permitted above) * Payment through "topping off" of a seller's pre-paid credit or debit card. * Payment through online payment methods not specifically permitted in this policy. * Payment through payment methods not listed in this policy. Misleading & Discouraging Payments Sellers must clearly state the payment methods that they accept and may not include generalized statements soliciting buyers to contact them for additional payment methods. Sellers who state in their listing that they accept certain payment methods must not selectively offer those payment methods to buyers or discourage buyers from using those payment methods. This means that sellers must always accept payment from buyers through the payment methods they have selected in their Payment Details section of their listing, including PayPal, and must not act in any way to discourage buyers from paying by these methods. This policy is not only limited to communications made in listings, but also includes all correspondence between a seller and buyer that relates to an eBay transaction. Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions including: * Listing cancellation * Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings * Limits on account privileges * Loss of PowerSeller status * Account suspension" | |||
