Next Step

Just got a Car Rotisserie and already removed the seats and dash/etc. Still got to remove motor,trans and rear end, after that what would be the next steps in restoring the car. The car is a 69 Dodge Superbee, I'll be doing the work myself so it will take awhile but I want it done the correct way. So what are the steps in restoring a car. Any information will help and I'll post pictures as I work.

A lot depends on the car, but usually you want to start at the bottom and work your way up. Post some pics of what you're starting with for us and study some of the threads in the resto forum.

Best thing I can say is to carefully look at what you have, take notes and LOTS OF PICTURES!!!!! Oh, and did I say lots of pictures? Not sure how well preserved your car is but for the most part it will show you it's story if you keep your eyes open.

While this can be a long list a couple of things came to mind right now. Our cars were painted with the body assembled (minus grille and trim of course). The engine compartment and inside the trunk were all body color, including underside of hood, the hinges and all bolts. The underside of the car was NOT painted body color but just got over spray from painting the rocker panels, etc.. Black out rad support behind the grille.

A good general rule that will save lots of grief down the road is to fit up all panels and trim while you are in the body work phase. Do the body work with the panels installed so you can see how the gaps line up and make the appropriate adjustments (uhhh, yes, hammer!!).
