I just spoke to this guy and as far as I can tell from the info he gave me it is NOT a Max Wedge. Block is stamped V42 and HP. The heads are 516's. Here's the deal. The guy seems really cool and just wants to go fast in a MoPar but doesn't know anything about MoPars - well, he knows enough to at least try one out! He either has or is looking for a 72 Dart to stuff a big block in. I think what he needs is to trade this 64 engine for a 440 or even a 383 that runs and Let the 62-65 B Body guys get the early 426. He said he's a Chevy guy and I said "not for long".

I saw his posting last night. Cool motor - just not for me. I did email him to see if he was interested in a '68 Barracuda I have decided to sell (in case he was open to something other than a '72 Dart).

I know it's been well over a year since the last thread, but does anyone know what happened to the V Code 426 wedge motor? I am looking for just such an animal and if the build date is close to my car I would definitely be interested in tracking it down if its still for sale.

Father-In-Law curious about selling what he claims to be a 426 Wedge that's been sitting in his storage shed for 33+ years.

Didn't know where to look for stamp #'s but found -- 42 & 65 HP on front engine pad.

Engine is complete - From pan too (single) carb & supposedly ran great when pulled.

Any clue's as too further identifications markings, and value of this engine if it's a real 426 Wedge?

There should be some additional info on the pad where you found the 42 and the HP. Before the 42 there should be a letter code. The second line will have 3 or 4 numbers which are the production date of the engine. If you can find the letter code and the numbers on the second line, please let me know what they are. Also, there is a casting number and date on the side of the block. If you can let me know what the various numbers are (and where you found them) I can tell you exactly what it is.

The 426 Max Wedge motors are a very rare bird and will fetch some serious money. The street wedge motors (single 4bbl) were more common, but not plentiful like the 383 B motors. As to value, it really depends on the date codes and finding a buyer who is looking for a period correct engine. I have seen street wedge motors for as little as $600 and as much as $5K. Let me know what you find on the numbers. Thanks

To gwizit, I tried to reply to your last message, but received a message that your log-in name (gwizit) can't be found.

If your father-in-law's motor is a V coded 1964 motor, it would be worth considerably more to me than the $500-$1,000 number you mentioned. If the date codes are correct for my car, even more.

He should get what the motor is truly worth and I have absolutely no problem competing with others for it, but I would definitely like to be considered. I am a good buyer with money in hand. Please call me at (425) 890-3216, or email at rmbrydges@live.com .

Thanks!!!
