I'm going to call it repo parts

Was wondering why the difference in price for repo parts between sellers for what looks like the same parts? Are they the same or cheaper versions? Some have quite a bit of savings but also want the best even if I need to pay for it just don't want to pad someones pockets

There's a difference between some of the Chinese stuff and the new American made repops.........But it depends on what type of part, and other variables.

The American stuff showing up now, I think, is better quality..but it's more pricey........Some of the Chinese stuff is pretty good though, but I do NOT go for the steel.........The stuff is a nightmare for any self-respecting body man............and I've had to re-fabricate quite a bit of it in my day......

You ask a tough question.....pretty broad in spectrum to give a focused answer.

ask the vendors for their part number when you call to check.
One guy might have AL 9494 cost 4.95 ea
another guy might have MPRR 9494, 6.95 ea
another might have JIMS Gold 9494 7.99 ea 2 for 11.50 (what a deal)
still another might have PADIT 9494 10.95 ea

The numerical number says part is from the same source......and then you get to see who has higher margins....

Just did the exact same thing today for dist gaskets prices, ran from 4.95 to 10.95 each from the vendors that sell to primarly to the mopar guys. (list price of gasket is 2.99)

Looked up the Fel Pro number and paid 1.40 each.....to any old idiot that wanted that gasket number.:grin::tongueflap:

Some of the larger vendors get better pricing from the manufacturer and they pass it on, but also look at shipping, a lot of companies try to make up for low prices with inflated shipping cost. Just like Mama said ........."You had better Shop around".

Plenty of factors are involved. Where it's made and who made it have bearing on the price. The size of the company you buy from can count in on it also. It's what killed the corner speed shop. Jeg's and Summit buy in huge volumes and get deep discounts. They can pass that on to you. You can also get good prices from companies that are the actual manufacturers of the parts. An example would be if you bought '57 Chevy parklight lenses from Danchuk, you get them for almost what it costs them to make them. (Sorry about the Chevy thing, it's just one I know off the top of my head.)

Good questions lots of good answers, Dont think for a minute though that the larger company will give you better parts or better pricing. On some items maybe but not always, many have premium prices on the same parts that can be had else where a deep savings. It really pays to check the net as well as the various catologues, magazines and even your local auto parts store for some items (Mechanical, not body stuff). Latley I have been finding things on e-bay with much higher price tags for items that I can buy local. You can save 20-40 percent by spending a little time doing research that savings can really add up if your doing a big job. As mentioned above some suppliers will sell direct to the public but there again often you can buy it cheaper from a vendor. Best wishes on your project !:yes:

Well truth be told really try to look for original parts or NOS and restore the original parts yourself. If you want repop parts definately make sure they're American. Napa usually has good, American made parts, I know fuel pumps are made in USA, through NAPA. If you want a good repop look for strong emphasis on "OEM". Another tip is work with a reputable restorer or wel known Mopar buff, they usually have connections to excellent parts with cheap prices, and they'll probably help you with details and date codes too.
