I am trying to spread the word so that any possible "victims" might be spared..

JB, sorry to hear about your purchase gone bad. I checked the link for only a minute. Did you ever go look at the car before you bought it or have someone look at it/test drive it for you? It sounds like the dollar amount would probably warrant that. So, what type of legal recourse do you have against the seller and/or the builder? From the short bit I read, it seems (even if it was an "as is" purchase), that you you have an option or two.

Hi -- No, this was my fault entirely, and I accept full responsibility for buying with my heart, not my head.

I reviewed the "restoration pictures" in great detail and had MANY recommendations by other forum members to buy this car.. I figured I couldn't go wrong, so we drove down there (overnight) , picked the car up early the next morning and drove straight home (with it on the trailer).

Then the fun began.

really:edgy:

So I'm guessing these people who recommended the car were the homosexual lovers of the guy who had it done in the first place, and wanted to help him out of the car?

How could anyone recommend BUYING this car? SELLING it I can understand. But recommending someone BUY IT?:black_eye::black_eye::black_eye:

The ad presents itself very well:

The "restoration page" looks very thorough:

There really were no "red flags" here. $70k into the car, $20k 472 crate Hemi, everything rebuilt.. blah blah blah.. It all sounded great..

Me being a paint and body guy of over 21 years I can strongly say that there are an abundance of cars out there like this then there are nice one's. And the problem is that people don't want to pay the price to do a car the "right" way. People don't have a clue what it takes or the money it takes to do a car "right". I have people coming to me everyday asking me "will you do my car for $4000.00" ( I know $4k is a lot of money, but not for restoring a car) and I just laugh at them. I tell them a reality price like $12k to $15K for instance and then they try to talk me down. ITS THE SAME THING AS ME COMING TO THERE WORK AND ASKING IF THEY WILL DO IT FOR ME CHEAPER THEN WHAT THIER GETTING PAID NOW! IT'S A SLAP IN THE FACE!!! Sorry i came unglued for a second. It's just like people say "you get what you paid for". Now i DO NOT condone nor practice this kind of work or behavior! I think my work speaks for itself( just check out my picture galleries) and i am not sticking up for this body shop. But the beef is not with you and this shop, it is between the shop and the guy that had it done there. I know your just trying to make people aware, and i commend you for that! I just want people to make sure they they know what they are paying for. So everyone please, please, don't try to talk your muscle car shop down in price, it's just hurting the circle of life of muscle car's.

Yeah. Nothing there to make you think it's a POS with a nice Hemi up front.

You're not kidding. What's odd is BK keeps emailing me now telling me I "blew it", that I could have "sent my car back to them, at my expense (Mass to Texas) and if I paid for the parts they would have installed them for free".

WOW, THANKS!! :rolling: , but their "fixing" is what got me into this in the first place..

If you went to McDonalds and got a nasty Cheeseburger and then complained about it, would you expect them to take it back and turn it into a Steak?? I would not let them work on my lawn mower, at this point.

"and had MANY recommendations by other forum members to buy this car.. "

Unfortunately in todays world many will use this type of "info SEEKING" for decision making.

Unless those who you get information have a VESTED INTEREST in the accuracy, it is suspect, AT BEST.

Information has a shelf life and many things that are posted on the internet are very dated, incomplete, bits. Lots of time these "bits" are not currently accurate.

Peoples best sources of current information, are those who have just RECENTLY (within the last year) completed what you are seeking to accomplish.

Many of these very people are very reluctant to talk about their "problems" because of the shame and humilation they feel from getting taken by others. They tend to promote the positives and gloss over the negatives. That is only human nature. It takes a lot of time and effort to get the true picture.

Just understanding that there are vastly different levels of "acceptable" is a true eye opener. One person might think a part that can be welded and machined back into tollerance is acceptable, while another might think the same part with just discoloration is UNACCPEPTABLE.

Once one gets the entire "bag" of information they have a basis for a decision. The more in their bag, the better the decision.

It all boils down to nothing in life is easy and everytime one tries to make it simple, then you piggy back on the easy method, it turns into a disaster.

Tried the "easy method" many times myself. NOW Everytime I start a new project, the majority of my time is spent on research, once done, it then becomes easy.

99.99% of the time the largest problem that occurs is over the "initial cost" of the best solutions, as so correctly stated by alleyoop. Then the loop begins again when under funded people look to the internet

for the "easy" method...

The one good thing about your purchase, is that now you know how NOT to do it....

Now, go post some dumb shit, so we can make fun of you....:HappyNewYear:

But wait.. I thought I already posted some dumb shit.. I did, after all, buy this car "sight unseen", never test drove it and just went home with it.. I'd call that dumb!!!!

Like you said, though, I'm paying for it now..

If you look at the Resto. pictures. The pictures show it was half ass put together. The shop does not even look professional.Very dirty and disorganized shop. There is a Clown up near Chicago Illinois that builds half ass General Lees and sells also.He is just another Clown ruining Chargers. Jim
