Just found this 1970 Dodge Coronet r/t, hope to get some ideas on where to start on the resto, I'am not much of a mechanic but will try anything. This car has been sitting a very long time it has 18,632 original miles, burnt orange w/ white vinyl top, where the top meets the trunk has some rust and also the under body looks pretty rusty. there has not been any mods or changes at all, has a lot of dings from junk sitting on and arount it, the interior is great, engine compartment is dirty, but runs and sounds good. I really wont to do the right thing in the restoration. Where do I start??????????? Ken

One more thing,I should have done, document everything you remove or disassemble.Get heavy plastic bags, very small and larger to put every screw, nut, bolt and part into.Take a picture before disassembly print that picture and put in the bag with the service manual page number for reference. This may sound tedious but when reassembly comes around it will be "what the..." or "I'm so clever and glad I did that".Service manuals assume your starting and finishing the job that day,not months or years later. If you have a memory like mine you'll need all the help you you can make for yourself.I've got a 6 foot memory,I walk 6 feet and it's gone!

Check out the following link. It lays out how I started.

If you want to do this right, you need to take as many pictures during the disassembly as possible and save them on your computer. Please save them on a separate hard drive, thumb-drive or other media. My computer crashed during my long drawn out project and I lost everything!
