But now I just play the radio:grin: I DO still have several electric guitars, one acoustic, and a VOX bass I've had since about 1972 ply426 11-29-2008, 05:21 PM Why waltz when you can rock&roll ?????? AdamR 11-29-2008, 05:56 PM I started on bass, switched to guitar for awhile and now back to bass. If I had the room I would sneak a drum set in for "the kids" http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a216/adamr78/IM000720.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a216/adamr78/IM000722.jpg mr.belvedere 11-29-2008, 06:21 PM right on! seems lately i have to yield to my 7 year old son for time on the YAMAHA's, which is cool with me- he's pretty damn good! he's the only kid i know who's favorite tune is Red Barchetta! gregs70 11-29-2008, 06:52 PM Been playing trombone (tenor and bass) for about 40 years. Right now I play lead 'bone in a big band with a bunch of retirees, actually made about $80 at it last year which didn't even cover gas. Like my Mopars, I do it for fun and not for profit. flypaper 11-29-2008, 07:07 PM i can play with my skin flute does that count??? mr.belvedere 11-29-2008, 07:16 PM sure it counts! it's kind of like doing an acoustic set-you know, unplugged!:rolling: mr.belvedere 11-29-2008, 07:19 PM hey 69 runner, old guitars get better with age- 5wndwcpe 11-29-2008, 07:51 PM I play the guitar - poorly. 69 Runner 11-29-2008, 08:57 PM hey 69 runner, old guitars get better with age- Yeah they do. The "newest" one I own is a repop of a thin body single cutaway Les Paul Junior. My oldest son, the one who belongs to the Charger if we ever finish it, is a drummer (the only white guy on the drum line in the HS marching band this year). My wife plays a mean 12 string acoustic. alleyoopmgv 11-29-2008, 11:46 PM I also play the guitar poorly, I got a buddy that teaches me rhythms while he plays the leads (but he's good). I have a guitar, a bass and the drums in my basement. my oldest boy plays the bass, he's 21. i also have a 15 year old that can play them all. it's pretty cool! I also have two other boy's but there not into playing music. 69charger 11-30-2008, 08:52 PM I've been playing drums for comming up on 8 years this christmas. KID 69charger 12-01-2008, 03:17 PM It's hard because there are 6 strings, and you only have 4 fingers and a thumb:rolling: hah yeah thats true...but tell that to Django Reinhardt! 69 Runner 12-01-2008, 04:26 PM there are exceptions to every rule....:edgy: mr.belvedere 12-01-2008, 04:43 PM is he any relation to Ottmar Leibart?:rolling: 69charger 12-01-2008, 08:08 PM Django Reinhardt was a jazz guitar player from the 1930's that played with only 2 fingers. this is the entry in wikipedia. At the age of 18, Reinhardt was injured in a fire that ravaged the caravan he shared with Florine "Bella" Mayer, his first wife. They were very poor, and to supplement their income Bella made imitation flowers out of celluloid and paper. Consequently, their home was full of this highly flammable material. Returning from a performance late one night, Django apparently knocked over a candle on his way to bed. While his family and neighbors were quick to pull him to safety, he received first- and second-degree burns over half his body. His right leg was paralyzed and the third and fourth fingers of his left hand were badly burnt. Doctors believed that he would never play guitar again and intended to amputate one of his legs.Reinhardt refused to have the surgery and left the hospital after a short time; he was able to walk within a year with the aid of a cane. His brother Joseph Reinhardt, an accomplished guitarist himself, bought Django a new guitar. With painful rehabilitation and practice Django relearned his craft in a completely new way, even as his third and fourth fingers remained partially paralyzed. Hence, he played all of his guitar solos with only two fingers, and managed to use the two injured digits only for chord work. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4v-6AH-S8L8 OHD 12-02-2008, 06:54 AM Got a friend that is retiring and selling some of his Gibsons, saw him in a used instument shop last sat. talking to the guy about prices.
