I know,Here we go again but I am confussed on what size will fit under the car.
I have a set of Weld draglites that are 12"wide with a 7 1/2 bs. I would like to run a 29.5x10.5w slick but not sure if they will fit because they have a 14+ tire sec. width. The tires that are on the Welds fit but they are only 28x12 with a 12.3 sec width
What are you other 65 Coronet guys running for rims for a 10.5W or 10.5 tire
10 or 12" rim? I got the Welds from a friend to test fit slicks with an option to buy(cheap).
Ok, you can see by my rambling that I have no idea what to do. HELP!!!

Before mini tubbing my '65, I was able to run 9X29.5 Mickeys on a 7" wheel with 4 1/8" backspace. That was pretty well maxxed out with a stock wheelwell, suspension, and rear end. Now that it is mini tubbed, springs moved in, and the axle housing shortened, 14" section width tires are no problem at all.

With a 10" rim, I can fit a 28.5x10.5 under my Coronet with no rubbing. BTW, my 1/4 are not rolled and that is with factory wheel wells and cal tracs.

I am wondering about a 10" rim and backspacing. I need to upgrade to a 10.5 or 10.5W. I am currently running a 28x10.5 M/T slick on a 8" rim but swapping to a 29.5 or 30 x 10.5/10.5w so would like to see what guys are running for rims/backspacing with this size tire. I have a stock width rearend.
When I bought the car in 99' it had a set of M/T Sportsman's on it 29.5x12.5x15 but they were mounted on a 6 1/2 rim. those tires had a section width of 13.1 so something like this will fit under the car but not sure what backspacing to use with a 10" rim.
The 12" Welds that are the car now fit. They have a 7 1/2" backspacing so do I just use that backspacing for a 10 or do I use a 6 1/2 cuz a 8 fits real nice with a 5.5bs

The backspace on my 10" rims is set dead center of the wheel, 5".

yep, used to run 29.5x10.5W on a 12in rim. 7inch backspacing.
We have ladder bars so no springs in the way or anything.

If your minitubbed you'll get a 15 x 10 rim with 6.5 backspace and ther largest tire would be 31 x 10.5W.
If your not minitubbed biggest you'll get is 15 x 10 with 6.5 BS and 29.00 x 10.5W Hoosier, you wont have e3nough height.
Heres a p[icture of my 63 plymouth not minitubbed.
and my 65 dodge minitubbed for reference.
