I had given to me a running(hope) 400 engine out of a dodge truck, 1970's.
It has a massive water pump housing. will a smaller water pump housing ,say from a "b" engine fit in its place? This thing weighs about 75 pounds . anyone needs it let me know. thanks in advance.bob

There were (basically) only three big block water pump housings. The "standard" driver's side exit, the later passenger's side exit, and a motorhome one, which not only bolts to the block, but also to the front of the heads.
So what have you got there?????????????????????????????????????????
pic maybe???

Someone told me that I had a 400 water pump housing on my 440. All I know is that it works well.
Big block and small block water pump housings are not interchangable though...if that is what you were asking.
This is what is on my 440 in a 68 roadrunner.

That is the incorrect piece for a 68 big block. The correct one should exit on the driver's side

But it works perfect with my killer aluminum radaitor that I have mounted in it!

I knew mine was wrong but I got an extra brand new aluminum radaitor with my corvette project so that's the radaiator that went in the RR. It's a really nice aluminum cross flow and it cools the 440 great. I also plugged all holes in the housing with pipe plugs No heater in my drag car!
