69 Runner 07-18-2008, 04:02 PM Interestingly, I don't care much for a 68 runner, but I dig 68 GTXs
AdamR 07-18-2008, 04:27 PM Post the video !
Rob R 07-18-2008, 05:38 PM Here's a little video of a burnout with the low deck in the car...

mattsmopars 07-18-2008, 07:00 PM Looks like a great car to me.Seems to run quite well to!
Rob R 07-18-2008, 07:25 PM eldubb440...
I put the 69 style vents on it when I first bought the car to let the heat out. I just got use to the way it looks and never bothered to put the originals back on the car.
eldubb440 07-18-2008, 07:37 PM knew you had a good reason.......looks great either way.......im inspired
onebadmk8 07-18-2008, 09:39 PM HOLY CRAP! You came to PLAY with that Dominator engine!!! Whats the specs, nice ride too!!
GTXperience 07-19-2008, 02:02 AM Rob, beautiful '68! When did the new mill go in? You must be able to destroy the rear hides at will.
rolling_Thunder 07-19-2008, 02:36 AM So i gotta ask - what is the paint code on that thing ?
motorhead 07-19-2008, 05:46 AM Very nice ride.Gotta like a good burnout when you don't have to hold the brake to light em up.
moparstuart 07-19-2008, 07:38 AM great video , just an awesome car ! wow the plug wires on the indy motor are as big as the battery cables
Plymouthfan 07-19-2008, 07:51 AM Love the 68's! I really like that color silver too.
Hey I have a 69 and I added the airgrabber screens to help let the heat out.... someday I'll get the air grabber, LOL.
Rob R 07-19-2008, 08:21 AM Onebad...
the low deck is a 502 and has a Callies crank..coated brgs..Manley Pro Billet rods...Bartons trick tapered pins and JE's..it's 16.5 to 1..solid roller...350 cc Indy -1's that flow just under 400 cfm...on the pump with a spacer under the carb it made 830 hp and 800 ft lbs...
rolling Thunder...
it's that 68 only color M5 charcoal gray metallic.
GTXperience...
I put the original block back in for an appraisal and couldn't drive around with a 440 ...so I built a low compression 515 with K1 pieces and a 350 cfm set of EZ-1's (my son built the whole thing)...it made 730 hp and 600 ft lbs on 87...

Rob I see you have Manitoba plates. Would you know Farmer or Brian Scott? We also stay at Ray Markusa's place when we go up there.
Rob R 07-19-2008, 08:49 AM T/A...
never met Farmer or Brian...I know Rays cousin Ken and talked to Ray once...
Gary67 07-20-2008, 05:51 AM Love that color..Very nice....

69 Runner 12-24-2008, 12:12 PM Yeah.....it's stock:grin:
kidsixpack 12-24-2008, 03:43 PM I really like the video! Is that the factory color?
KID
I think I have spring fever now!
696pack 12-24-2008, 05:43 PM Looks like Gunmetal Grey to me.
68 Satellite 12-24-2008, 09:14 PM THAT is a good looking car .
Rob R 12-25-2008, 09:17 AM Thanks for the complements guys...the color is a one year only color for 68... M5 charcoal gray metalic...it's a color that you either really hate or like...
69 Runner 12-25-2008, 09:25 AM I think it's a dandy color, but for me the blackwalls don't make it. Maybe red stripes or even some blue streaks would look cool. Just my opinion though. That and 4 bucks will get you a cup of coffee....
Rob R 12-25-2008, 10:05 AM 69...
I agree...the thing is that the old GTX is very hard on rear tires...I only can get 12-14 good 3rd gear burn outs (that's where I dump the clutch and stand on it) out of a set of tires.Any more and it's a waste of valve springs because there just isn't any tire left to smoke.
The video that you see is on a finished set of tires hardly any tire smoke...
And to burn up a set of Corker red lines every weekend just can't afford that.
1badstroker 12-25-2008, 10:23 AM nice badass gtx, The video is very impressive.
69 Runner 12-25-2008, 10:42 AM Somehow I missed the video before. But after seeing it I suppose you've got a point there. But I'd be worried about boiling up Pep Boys tires like that (they're about the cheapest on the planet)
Rob R 12-25-2008, 11:20 AM 69...
Those tires are Goodyear's top of the line tire ...a friend of mine owns a Goodyear store and gives me a break on them...This last set I got this summer are Dunlop GT's...He told me it's getting really hard to find 14's for my car and to take it easy
daredevil 12-25-2008, 11:39 AM Man I could almost smell the rubber. Super nice. Where did you score the throttle brackets or are they custom?
Rob R 12-25-2008, 01:59 PM Daredevil...
There custom I make them and I also make timing pointers for Jesel belt drives...or what ever needs to be made.
george68hemirr 01-19-2009, 04:39 PM ROB....that is one sweet GTX and awesome burnout too.....did you do all the work??
Rob R 01-20-2009, 10:28 AM george...
Thanks for the complement...
and I do everything...motor/trans/paint/body you name it I do it...for over 30 years now :70s_rule:...LOL
