Hey Guys,

My name is Joe and I have been a member here for a while but have not had a chance to say hi!

I am in PA and am currently restoring a 72 340 RR that is Petty Blue with a black bucket seat interior with white roof strobe stripes. It has its numbers matching 340 and the 727 is 72 date coded. I have had the car since 2004 and it is about 25% done.

I also have a 72 Dart project and I am a member over at Forabodiesonly.com and I also have a 51 Dodge Wayfarer Convertible stree rod project.

I am just starting to get back into my RR project so I am sure I will be searching the parts sections and be asking questions in the forums as my resto continues. I look forward to getting to know everyone and learning more about these cool Mopars!

The only picts I have of the car assembled are on another computer and that computer is dead and the repair guys are dragging their feet to come and fix it!:(

I can get some picts of it in pieces if that will work but it doesn't look like much right now.

Well here ya go! They are not pretty but I am doing most of the work myself and the progress is slow but steady.

The floors are solid with the exception of a couple small patches. I have already replaced the LH inner fender and the left side of the firewall. The rails are good with the exception of 1 spot on the LH rail where the swaybar mounts. It needs quarters ovviously since it has been in Western PA all of its life.

I am the fourth owner. I have talked to the second owner who told me some of the history of the car. It was used for drag duty with a 440 in place of the 340 by the original owner from day one. The original owner then did some things that landed him in the grey bar hotel and the car was sold to the second owner who left it sit and rust for 10+ years. The 3rd owner bought it to flip and then I bought it from him with some really shoddy body work, most of which I have had to undo and make right. Man I hate working twice!

I am doing a full resto back to original with the addition of a go wing, chin spoilers and hood tank stripes. The original 340 will be left mostly stock with a few go-fast goodies added just for fun.

Here are some picts of some of what I have done so far. I have to do the finish work yet but the hard part is done.

I am currently working on the quarters and I need a section of RH lower rear quarter for the car. I have posted a wanted ad here but no respnse yet.

Thanks guys for the kind welcome!

I have wanted one of these cars since I was 17(Now 32) and I finally got one in 04. I originally bought the car to fix up and resell. That idea lasted about a month and then I decided to not let this one go! Now it is a labor of love and I plan on finishing it and doing most of the work myself including some of the paint and engine work. The seats are already reupolstered and I have most of the parts to finish the car.

I am on a budget and I live on a farm, and work full-time so money and time are sometimes both luxuries so I work on the car when I can.

Welcome Joe Looks like you are doing a great job. Always fun to see what some idiot has done to the car before isn't it? Kind of like a treasure hunt with no treasure>

Thanks for the compliment! These things are fun to restore and are definitely a challenge but it will definitely be worth it when I finally I get it done.

Tell me about! You would not believe the amount of bondo I pulled out of the drivers side quarter alone. The quarter had been ripped up by a blown tire at one point and the guy who had the car before me paid no attention to the body lines and just made some cheap sheetmetal patches and proceded to slap a couple gallons of bondo into the quarter along with fiberglass screen. I found older patches that were pinch welded into place under the newer patches. The bondo was almost an inch thick in places!

The quarter I am repairing now from a 72 Satellite parts car had bondo, cardboard, screen and paper patching the lower quarter section.
