FMJ body spindle secret is officially out

I went to three U pulls today and EVERY F and M body was missing the spindles. There were at least 6-8 between the three yards.

Either there are a lot of people doing disk conversions or there are a few people hoarding them and trying to make a profit.

You can't even find those cars in the boneyards around here never mind the spindles.

I still run across them now and then. I'll keep my eyes open if you're interested.

I have mine, but it's interesting to see that within the past six months, all of a sudden, they're all removed. Last summer there were about a dozen at the Clearwater LKQ, and they all sat for months with their spindles. Now every one I see is missing that part.

Yep, usually the way it works. Round these parts there are "crews" that hit the pick-a-parts. You gotta be lucky to find good parts before they do. Found a complete cherry Dodge M body cop car at one about 2 years ago. Got the wheels and P/S cooler off of it. Went back two weeks later and it was mostly stripped clean. What wasn't taken was flat out trashed. Someone had busted up the grille to get to something behind it. The calibrated speedo looked like it had been spiked by a tire iron. It was a sad end to a nice car.

Same deal around here. You can still find those cars setting around. But, the salvage yards seem to have been picked clean. There is a fairly large yard near here that has at least a dozen of these cars. All of them missing the front brake set ups. Most of 'em missing mastercylinders and propvalves too. And for some reason, people do like to tear these cars up for what looks like fun...

Glad I got a couple of these brake set ups stashed...lol

Revhendo,
Know what ya mean about the brakes being gone.
Found a Palm Beach Dippy here in JAX.
Brakes and instrument panel were gone but see what I got for $35.
Not in the picture but I did also score a cop car wheel.

What years will work ? Not that I need any , it's just that I'm getting ready to send 1 to the junkyard and if anyone needs parts I'll pull them and sell for a decent price . Btw, I'll ship too !

I found a couple of sets of 73-76 a-body disk brake spindles at a junkyard yesterday. At $100 a set I felt like I hit the jackpot. It's still pretty easly to find FMJ spindles around where I live. But for some reason they don't bring as much as the a-body spindles.

Some people here in this town absolutely hate Mopars and will destroy good parts if they find something old in a bone yard. Thing is, some of the better yards have cameras and will prosecute whenever they find someone destroying 'their' livelihood....but on the other hand, I know some yards that will crush an old Mopar (or used to) as soon as it comes into their yard.

Same deal around here. We live in Chebbie country and many of those ass nuggets get off on smashin' up "some ole POS Dodges".

And it seems the logic for the wrecking yards is that those cars will set along time and generate little sales. So, they figure they can go ahead a crush 'em to get the quick cash while scrap prices are higher...

They are in it to make a profit. So it makes sense no matter how much I dislike it. :edgy:
