Shock Replacement on a 1972 B-Body

I'm about to replace all four shocks on my '72 Charger , and am wondering if there's any tricks about it . I've never replaced shocks before , so this is new to me ; what's the ideal way to go-about it ?

I'll be working on this myself , laying on my back and sides fighting with arthritis :eusa_boohoo: so I need to know if the lower control arms have to be "loaded" ( e.g. , not suspended via the raising of the front end ) ; also , what are the torque specs for the fasteners / retainers ?

I took my 66 shocks off with the wheels dangling and jack stands under the frame.
They were through bolts on the bottom, and studs on top, through the tower tops.
Not sure if 3rd gen Charger is that way or not. I know your LCA is different.

The biggest pain, was on the bottom, trying to find a place to pry. One LCA had been tweaked a bit and was really clamped on to the shock bushing loop.

Pass side took 15 min, drivers took about 45 min.

Just finished my 73, hardest part was getting the fron out after unbolting. Bottom bolt tightened the control into the shock, but a couple taps of the hammer on the rod and it can right out.
But it will be a little hard on your back, but it really easy to do.
