no you use 70 charger fenders and hood for a daytona , they make them in fiberglass if you dont care ? Who know maybe they will re-make steel ones soon ? this guy from classic says he's going to make 70 sheet metal we will see

Does the new nose mate up cleanly with a seal?..........and do we need a fender extension on the bottom like the Birds do?

the fender ext. on a daytona is one piece and build into the valance panel, 70 charger bumpers has the rubber seal similar to the daytona so yes the nose should mate cleanly. note should because aftermarket noses fit so-so plus the originals didnt always fit the same !!

That is a loaded question and tall order of a question.
I would gladly impart my vast knowledge on building wing car clones.
There are many great vender of part, many different quality of parts and many different stages of completed clones. You can do a factory exact clone or anything in between . There is steel, aluminnun , and fiberglass stuff. Some great , some not so great , but it depends on your budget and your pickyness as to what will work for you . Me i'm mostly broke and cheap , but extremely picky some times . So i have to budget and save and take it slow in building mine. As far as janek goes I here for the money his is the best way to go if you can stand fiberglass. You will have to throw away some of the stuff in his kit . His z-bracketsnose bulkheads are fiberglass and to weak to support the nose properly , his hlp bucket and pivots (same story) . Several people make them all in steel . Extra expense but well worth having solid working hlp nose. But most say teds stuff is a good fit . Ted is slow and a real pain in the butt to deal with ( in my personal experience with him ).

Tell me what you really want to build and i will try to tell you my personal feeling and experience . I'm slowly building a daytona clone right now . So i can tell you what i have done. I really want a steel nose but cant afford the 5000.00-6000.00 for just the bare shell , then you have to load it with high dollar good working parts . So i will most likely purchase a used janek bare nose and load it up with good steel inner workings. Mike (dayclona ) here on the board makes alot of great parts ( his parts would be high end top quality stuff ) . Maybe he will comment on what he offers .

There are a ton of clone projects that get started , and never get finished . So keep an eye out for them , in this economy you can get a steal with alot of the parts and work done already. But wing car clones are not a cheap project to undertake . If you do alot of the work your self you can maybe get one done for under 30k if you have the car already . If you have the car already and have to farm out the work and parts, you will be more likely to spend 50k or more when done.

Actually it was just the one body shop who ripped me off and had my car for 9 years . He stole my money and parts and didnt finish it . The second guy only had it 3 months and did more work on it then the first guy .I had all the parts and stuff put together & ready. He told me to keep buying parts and get stuff ready for him because he was ready for them . While he was sitting there doing nothing to the car !
Thats why i had all the parts and stuff done way ahead of time . Had to buy lots of stuff twice because they sat too long or he stole the stuff. Had a brand new alternator still looked great on the out side but was rusted up tite inside . sorry for the rant bad feelings still !!!!

The 70 Charger front clips are more rare than the 70 Coronet clips. At least with the Coronet clip, they were avalable on every model made including the
four door and the wagon. I've been urging my customers to go ahead and buy a 70 charger to begin with to make the build go a little quicker...and cheaper too.
I've seen several coronet fenders and hoods at swap meets lately for less than a grand in some cases. That's a bargain for a part that will never be reproduced.

well i have real daytona fenders for my build and think i have located a real daytona hood !!!! cross your fingers may take some song and dance to get the hood

A fender doesn't have to be very bad to be unusable. They tend to twist and stretch when they get bent very badly. I was just barely able to save the left fender on my clone and it looked pretty good before I stripped it. I spent two days heat shrinking it and beating on it and even then I figure that I have close to half a gallon of polyester filler in it. I probably have close to 24 hours in that fender altogether. When you calculate 24 hours even at $40 and hour, that's $960 in labor to save a $500 fender.
If I had to do it all over again, I would buy a better fender. :angry3:

no not my wife my mechanic has it at his shop , I was offered free entry to good guys show, like 65.00 value if 10 of ou parked cars. Well I was alredy taking my charger to a show in hutchinson kansas. SO Leo took my place at good guys.

took it to work last week , trying to get the motor broken in and cruise it as much as possible before complete winter storage. Winston my junk yard dog .

I put my jack crank handle in correctly . Also unboxed and documented pictures of my daytona jack for my daytona clone .

:santa: Ian my 7 year old and I got it out Thanksgiving day morning , put the top down and cruised for about an hour . It was only 60 degrees but we had a blast and man does this car get some lookers . Good and bad they either love it or hate it . You really cant go anywhere unnoticed thought.

Mopar dash lights usually suck big time. The best thing I ever did was put Autometer gauges in my Challenger convert. I really would like to do that to all of my cars. Of course that would set me back about $2000 plus a whole lot of work.

I had my buddy kevin in wichita do me white face gauges for the dayclona, with LEDS and the white faces they should really pop .

Did he restore the gauges or just change the faces? Mine need a total resto performed. I need to see if Greg Garner can do them for me. Of course I have to figure out how to get them out of the dash first.

he totally restored them for me , It had no tach/clock , no hlp switch
I bought the new bezel , he charged me 700.00 to restore it and add the tach and vaccumm switch and white gauges , he also remans columns and powder coats all the bracket cost me 300 exchange to get my 70 column all redone

it comes out really easy just six screws , I did it slowly and labled each wire so it would go back in faster . I had not done one either but it really was a breeze . Now all the lights and plugs are labled for easy repair down the road.

I went into a Dollar store yesterday for the first time in my life. We were out for a drive in the wingrunner. I figured out that the dollar comes from everything in there is exactly a dollar higher than Wal-Mart.
We were pricing storage tubs to store parts in and every single one of them was exactly a dollar higher than the ones that we had just priced at the local Wal-Mart.
We built a 12 foot long rack with four shelves. We were running out of room in the body shop.
Now that we're selling off some of the non mopars, at least we have more room in the front shop.

towed it home from virginia and figured out the newish fuel pump rods from mopar are not hardened enought . Bought a good hardened one from hughes engines in illnois

you have to buy the shifter which is a bolt in assemble from duncan ,Its call the shifter-r arm . the shifter handle and plastic wood grip are sold seperatly from duncan also .

Warning if you want a more stock looking grip or custom grip , to add it you will have to cut/sand the bottom off the grips about a 1/4 inch , duncans handle is not stock size .

Hey Stuart, How did the Shift-R-Gate from Duncan work out ? , do they work like they are supposed to ? How tough was it changing the shifter gate ?

gate works well it was stiff at first but comes with a grease to lube it and the more you use the shifter to loosened up

I am getting pretty tired of the view obstruction of the hood while driving. I have a beat gtx hood that I was considering making an air grabber setup much like yours.
BTW your son frequents a couple of the turbo mopar boards that I am on.
