Yuri 07-24-2008, 10:22 AM Very nice! I love Wing verts! But do you have any pics with both the top and the windows down? I can't wait for someone to build a Superbird sedan. Pastortom1 07-24-2008, 10:58 AM I'd like to know where you find a Coronet front clip these days........ I looked for 5 years and finally sold the Runner I was going to convert.....just plain gave up......... I have a 68 Charger I'd like to convert to a Daytona....tail panel is no problem.......plenty of parts from Janek too.....but what about the front clip? I need a 70? Correct? moparstuart 07-24-2008, 12:15 PM no you use 70 charger fenders and hood for a daytona , they make them in fiberglass if you dont care ? Who know maybe they will re-make steel ones soon ? this guy from classic says he's going to make 70 sheet metal we will see http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,46148.msg507185.html#msg507185 Pastortom1 07-24-2008, 02:12 PM I realize it's a Charger front end........ Does the new nose mate up cleanly with a seal?..........and do we need a fender extension on the bottom like the Birds do? moparstuart 07-24-2008, 08:07 PM coronet fender on 70 birds , 70 charger fenders and hood on 69 daytona's the fender ext. on a daytona is one piece and build into the valance panel, 70 charger bumpers has the rubber seal similar to the daytona so yes the nose should mate cleanly. note should because aftermarket noses fit so-so plus the originals didnt always fit the same !! moparstuart 07-28-2008, 08:08 PM :o moparstuart 07-28-2008, 08:10 PM :no: moparstuart 07-28-2008, 08:12 PM :yes: birdboy 07-29-2008, 11:11 AM looks like the boy in pic is saying "yep im going to drive it some day" Pastortom1 07-29-2008, 11:17 AM You're doing a number on me here.......... Where do you find all these wonderful toys? .......and since you're vastly experienced at this (I state this with all sincerity), what can you tell us about Janek parts for our conversion projects? ......ie; quality, turnaround, shipping, etc...........and perhaps you know of some other suppliers for the parts needed for conversions....... I'd appreciate all the help and insight I could get on the subject. I have a decent '68 Charger in the garage all in new and resto'd steel. If I could see clearly all of the necessary steps and financial obstacles, there might be a nice Daytona body in it's future............It's a big block car, but not an R/T or a great color combo on the tags.........Any 'teaching' you can lend would be a great asset to this car's future. :hatwave: moparstuart 07-30-2008, 12:51 PM You're doing a number on me here.......... I would gladly impart my vast knowledge on building wing car clones. There are many great vender of part, many different quality of parts and many different stages of completed clones. You can do a factory exact clone or anything in between . There is steel, aluminnun , and fiberglass stuff. Some great , some not so great , but it depends on your budget and your pickyness as to what will work for you . Me i'm mostly broke and cheap , but extremely picky some times . So i have to budget and save and take it slow in building mine. As far as janek goes I here for the money his is the best way to go if you can stand fiberglass. You will have to throw away some of the stuff in his kit . His z-bracketsnose bulkheads are fiberglass and to weak to support the nose properly , his hlp bucket and pivots (same story) . Several people make them all in steel . Extra expense but well worth having solid working hlp nose. But most say teds stuff is a good fit . Ted is slow and a real pain in the butt to deal with ( in my personal experience with him ). Tell me what you really want to build and i will try to tell you my personal feeling and experience . I'm slowly building a daytona clone right now . So i can tell you what i have done. I really want a steel nose but cant afford the 5000.00-6000.00 for just the bare shell , then you have to load it with high dollar good working parts . So i will most likely purchase a used janek bare nose and load it up with good steel inner workings. Mike (dayclona ) here on the board makes alot of great parts ( his parts would be high end top quality stuff ) . Maybe he will comment on what he offers . There are a ton of clone projects that get started , and never get finished . So keep an eye out for them , in this economy you can get a steal with alot of the parts and work done already. But wing car clones are not a cheap project to undertake . If you do alot of the work your self you can maybe get one done for under 30k if you have the car already . If you have the car already and have to farm out the work and parts, you will be more likely to spend 50k or more when done. stuart moparstuart 07-30-2008, 07:28 PM here is a clone unfinished on ebay right now http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-Trucks___DODGE-CHARGER-SE-DAYTONA-1969-70-CRATE-HEMI-4-SPEED-383_W0QQitemZ200242857378QQddnZCarsQ20Q26Q20Trucks QQddiZ2282QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item200242857378&_trksid=p3756.m14.l1308#ebayphotohosting moparstuart 07-30-2008, 08:00 PM :tongueflap: moparstuart 07-30-2008, 08:01 PM lots of bondo was in that nose took a ton of straightening moparstuart 07-30-2008, 08:02 PM  moparstuart 07-30-2008, 08:05 PM :frog: moparstuart 07-30-2008, 08:07 PM I do my owm seat recovering moparstuart 07-30-2008, 08:08 PM :no::no::no: my kids are 16 ,11 and 7 now the picture of ian was only taken 6 years ago lol when i did the interior moparstuart 07-30-2008, 08:14 PM :tongueflap: hotrod98 07-30-2008, 08:29 PM Interior to complete in just six years. I started on my wife's 70 Challenger convertible hemi clone back in 1997. I finished it in 2007. Too many customer car and personal car distractions along the way. Now I have all of these great cars to restore and even though I'm basically retired, I still can't find the time to do them all. I've built every one of these cars in my head a hundred times. I have a few others finished which gives me something to drive at least. I have a few friends that have unfinished projects that have been sitting in their garages for years. I've even offered to help them and they still don't budge. I've gotten to the point that I just ignore them when they complain about not having a hotrod to drive. moparstuart 07-31-2008, 11:57 AM it looked ok on the out side but was a rust bucket , lived all it's life on long island . bigblocksam 07-31-2008, 12:07 PM  moparstuart 07-31-2008, 12:10 PM Hey Stuart, I understand completely. Actually it was just the one body shop who ripped me off and had my car for 9 years . He stole my money and parts and didnt finish it . The second guy only had it 3 months and did more work on it then the first guy .I had all the parts and stuff put together & ready. He told me to keep buying parts and get stuff ready for him because he was ready for them . While he was sitting there doing nothing to the car ! Thats why i had all the parts and stuff done way ahead of time . Had to buy lots of stuff twice because they sat too long or he stole the stuff. Had a brand new alternator still looked great on the out side but was rusted up tite inside . sorry for the rant bad feelings still !!!! moparstuart 07-31-2008, 12:11 PM  hey i didnt even speak of this devil and he shows up also !!! :tongueflap::tongueflap::tongueflap::tongueflap: bigblocksam 07-31-2008, 12:31 PM :fit: moparstuart 07-31-2008, 01:20 PM really good to see you buddy , Lets see some pictures of the tona ! bigblocksam 07-31-2008, 01:45 PM i'm actually working on it. i hope to have the nose on by the end of next week. :frog: moparstuart 07-31-2008, 01:48 PM pictures brother , pictures GTXperience 07-31-2008, 02:30 PM Yes, do you a progress album that we can look at? moparstuart 07-31-2008, 03:03 PM here is 1/2 my life story   lots of reading on the birdible http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,32617.0.html as far as rene's car i'm not sure if he has one complete resto thread on his daytona ? chargervert 07-31-2008, 10:41 PM Stuart, did you get your new engine in the car yet? bigblocksam 08-03-2008, 10:34 PM but what about the front clip? At least with the Coronet clip, they were avalable on every model made including the four door and the wagon. I've been urging my customers to go ahead and buy a 70 charger to begin with to make the build go a little quicker...and cheaper too. I've seen several coronet fenders and hoods at swap meets lately for less than a grand in some cases. That's a bargain for a part that will never be reproduced. moparstuart 08-14-2008, 11:47 AM well i have real daytona fenders for my build and think i have located a real daytona hood !!!! cross your fingers may take some song and dance to get the hood hotrod98 08-14-2008, 02:01 PM Are your daytona fenders repairable? I thought I remembered seeing them. The ones that I saw were definitely not salvagable in my opinion. A fender doesn't have to be very bad to be unusable. They tend to twist and stretch when they get bent very badly. I was just barely able to save the left fender on my clone and it looked pretty good before I stripped it. I spent two days heat shrinking it and beating on it and even then I figure that I have close to half a gallon of polyester filler in it. I probably have close to 24 hours in that fender altogether. When you calculate 24 hours even at $40 and hour, that's $960 in labor to save a $500 fender. If I had to do it all over again, I would buy a better fender. :angry3: moparstuart 08-14-2008, 02:23 PM Are your daytona fenders repairable? I thought I remembered seeing them. Of course I have to figure out how to get them out of the dash first. it comes out really easy just six screws , I did it slowly and labled each wire so it would go back in faster . I had not done one either but it really was a breeze . Now all the lights and plugs are labled for easy repair down the road. hotrod98 04-08-2009, 07:08 PM They are definitely getting hard to find and now the guys are building the station wagons and four doors so that's made it even more difficult to come up with them. I have two sets of fenders and hoods for a 70 Coronet. I would sell one set if you decide to build a superbird. I also have an extra fiberglass nose, fender extensions and fender scoops. I've been in a selling mood lately. I've already sold my 70 Camaro SS RS, my bandit 77 Trans Am SE and my 79 Trans AM. moparstuart 04-09-2009, 10:02 AM They are definitely getting hard to find and now the guys are building the station wagons and four doors so that's made it even more difficult to come up with them. I have two sets of fenders and hoods for a 70 Coronet. I would sell one set if you decide to build a superbird. I also have an extra fiberglass nose, fender extensions and fender scoops. We were out for a drive in the wingrunner. I figured out that the dollar comes from everything in there is exactly a dollar higher than Wal-Mart. We were pricing storage tubs to store parts in and every single one of them was exactly a dollar higher than the ones that we had just priced at the local Wal-Mart. We built a 12 foot long rack with four shelves. We were running out of room in the body shop. Now that we're selling off some of the non mopars, at least we have more room in the front shop. moparstuart 04-09-2009, 08:19 PM I went into a Dollar store yesterday for the first time in my life.
