Rebuilding leaf springs

Mine look pretty shot, i was wondering how bad they should be rusted where the u bolts go before they are considered unsafe. They are missing clamps in one spot and i am trying to figure out if one side is missing leafs or half a leaf broke off?

i did a search, one member suggested that one side was beefed up to handle the torque but it really still looks like half of the bottom leaf broke off.

is it worth trying to rebuild them and where is a good place to get parts for them?

or should i just buy some new ones?

the car is a 68, small bolck, 8 3/4, no posi. i'm not concerned about keeping it original.

Thanks

does the passenger side use only half a leaf on the bottom?

Depending on the package performance wise yes they had some partial springs. I did a rebuild on mine being its a numbers hemi car but it cost me about the same as getting new ones, let alone the labor. If they are rusted badly and you don't care about it being original get new ones. It sounds like you might have 440-Hemi springs.

I'm still trying to decide if i should toss my current springs and get new ones. I found some numbers on the bottom and would like to know if they are anything special or if i should junk them.

spring 1: 36369 030 7 - has a pentastar on it
spring 2: 2835115 - kind of eroded on the bottom spring

I would defintately have to rebuild them if i re-use them. so, unless they are special, i'm leaning towards a pair from summit. any advice?
