Big Sugar 02-04-2009, 10:21 PM Hey Kids,
Thought I'd make it official and actually sign in !
Name is Ron out of Beeton Ontario,
I've got WW1 66 Charger 440 6 pac 727 with a custom MHT model kit decals, the Charger is presently being rejuvinated after being hit at a car show in Sept 07 I'm hoping my funds can get me back on the road this year . You may have seen the Charger in the Toronto area Mopar Shows in the past,or in the MCG July 08 issue (mopar collectors guide)
WannaRunner 02-04-2009, 10:30 PM Welcome!:tiphat: nice car, was it hit bad?
69 Runner 02-04-2009, 11:05 PM Welcome. I dig those stripes!
Big Sugar 02-04-2009, 11:14 PM Yeah it was a Good hit, From a Fat Blown Chevy, at a Car Show no less. I did get lucky though, Nothing Structural, Just had to replace the door.......
But you know how that goes......
Whole car was stripped and Repainted.....
Now I'm in waayyy Deep.
Ron
plumfloored 02-04-2009, 11:33 PM Dude, I love the style of the car
Well done
the only thing i would have done is removed the emblem from the trunk.
I love the decklid spoiler, very similar to a concept we have been thinking about.
Grasso

Big Sugar 02-05-2009, 05:18 AM Sorry Grasso but the rear trunk emblem is sort of a 1st gen icon, it would be tough to loose it, The rear spoiler is actually a reproduction rear Hemi spoiler (Factory option) These were introduced by Dodge to cure some of the lift the Nascar Chargers were having trouble with on the high speed ovals.
As I recall these are the first factory rear spoilers available on a Production Car.
I'm still contemplating adding a 1/2" to the height of the spoiler just just for more of an agressive look. It should offset the Chin spoiler I've got for the Charger now.

toniflexen 02-05-2009, 05:29 AM Hi Ron,

alleyoopmgv 02-05-2009, 05:39 AM Welcome ! Love your car! Read the article in MCG. Cool ride!
69 Runner 02-05-2009, 10:01 AM I hope that guy's family gave him a nice funeral.
they would have had to if he did that to MY car
Big Sugar 02-05-2009, 12:56 PM Trust me I was deeply considering handing out a good whollop I had at least a hundred pounds on the guy,
Fortunatly his constant apologizing calmed the beast in me and I realized it wasn't goint to help matters at all.
The Mopar that was parked beside me had left earlier and I saw the opening between my Charger and the next car too the right, It did occure to me that after the awards were handed out that someone may try to drive thru the new opening. I should have put my Chairs there but I didn't. Normally fellow enthusiast are quite carefull around other peoples cars but luck was not on my side that day.
He tried to sneak out a little early and found a short cut out as he tried to climb a little grassy knowl his drag slicks lost traction so he rolled back to get a bit of a run at it .Apparantly while rolling backwards He had trouble finding first gear and my Charger was used to help complete his gear selection.
Sad but True
So a simple door replacement became a Full repaint and we stripped Big Sugar down......
Time and Money are not on my side now.
This year I'm I'm a little more optomistic that I'll get back on the road, My Enthusiasm level is back where it should be.
Ron
Rob Wolf from MCG did a photo shoot on Big Sugar @ Moparfest 2007 , The car was hit the very next Car show I attended .
5wndwcpe 02-05-2009, 03:17 PM Welcome aboard.
daredevil 02-05-2009, 04:18 PM the wheels and sidepipes are badass. one of the best looking chargers ive seen. welcome
Dodger3000 02-05-2009, 11:31 PM Was it really necessary to repaint the whole car?
Big Sugar 02-06-2009, 03:41 PM Well you know how it goes, you start looking for things to get cleaned up here ,a small chip over here, and before you know it your sanding the whole friggen car !!!
Ron
69 Runner 02-06-2009, 04:08 PM "Oh damn.....I made a clean spot"
daredevil 02-06-2009, 05:00 PM i like the new clean white slate. didnt care for the stripes. my opinion though and not worth much. you may not like my trunk stripe
Big Sugar 02-06-2009, 05:18 PM Nice Coronet ! That tail strip is OK.
If I do the stripes again it will be a little toned down , The Black on White was a little too contrast especially on Sunny days, I'm thinking of more of a dark slate color. I'll respray the rim centres to match
A383Wing 02-06-2009, 07:52 PM Hey RON!!!!!

Big Sugar 02-12-2009, 09:21 PM WOW thats too much...Luckly it looks like the damage is only to the door, Very lucky. Especially with a hit from a forklift, Could have been much worse.
Is it fixed now......
Your from Germany...Were you at a Show in Holland when it happened ?
Ron
daredevil 02-13-2009, 03:07 PM Yea...mine has the rare "rear medallion delete" option also :rolling:
Who makes that little spoiler? I wonder if it would fit a 66 coronet
696pack 02-13-2009, 04:15 PM Who makes that little spoiler? I wonder if it would fit a 66 coronet
That was actually a FACTORY available spoiler typically seen on Hemi Chargers. I think someone was repoing it but don't know who. I think it was developed for a NASCAR piece so it would have had to have been available to run in NASCAR.
I don't believe it will fit a Coronet as it attaches to the slanted back panels of the fastback Charger. MAYBE the spoiler is flexable enough that it could be bent to stand up right on a Coronet.
daredevil 02-13-2009, 04:25 PM thanks 6 pk
Chris-Turbo 02-14-2009, 04:10 PM WOW thats too much...Luckly it looks like the damage is only to the door, Very lucky. Especially with a hit from a forklift, Could have been much worse.

i got a call from the agent in rotterdam that my car has been damaged in his depot. and he said that he pay for the repair in germany.
696pack 02-14-2009, 04:38 PM Welcome. I dig those stripes!
Yeah, me too.
I have an extra hood for my 66 and a Hemi type hood scoop that has the same "inpression" in the scoop as the factory hood. I was experimenting with painting the hood the factory Turquoise of my car and doing something with the impressions. I primered the hood and flat blacked both impressions and it looked to "busy" I didn't really like the look of just the hood impression done either. I was thinking of painting the entire hood and scoop Black like the A12 cars but haven't done anything with it since I have it up for sale.
I DO like the look of this car with the breaks in the Black, but it may just be the clean look of the White/Black combo
george68hemirr 02-14-2009, 10:20 PM wow that would"ve pissed me off but you did the right thing by not killing him.....chargers looking good
Ramcharger413 02-15-2009, 12:22 AM Welcome from Calif, All I can say about your car is "SWEET RIDE"
