Vintage air Question

I plan on a Vintage Air system in my 70 GTX project. This is NOT a "factory original like" type of retoration so "convinience" type mods are the order of the day.
My question is, has anyone installed a Vintage Air system in a B Body like this and if so how was the fresh air vent handled?
I was blown away at how rusted the top of the cowl was only to find NO rust on the deck beneath it! Except for the fresh air vent extensions (see pic).
I'm thinking about trying to rig up something more like the vents in my 69 Dart. They work better than the &0 GTX ever did and are a lot less complicated....no cables and such.
Anyway, heres hoping to open a flood gate of tech q&a so this site can start cookin!

I know there is a system that eliminates the heater hoses and core, and routes the A/C lines in through the existing holes. Don't know about the fresh air. But I would guess if that system eliminates the heater core, then there is probably some accommodation for fresh air.

To my knowledge - there is no provision for fresh air aside from the stock driver side duct. The Vintage air unit does not pull fresh air from the cowl area. There is usually a block off plate provided in the kit which kills the possibility of the fresh air.... seems the kit merely pulls air from the passenger compartment.

I personaly know the guy that owns that dump, (Vintage Air). If smoosed he could/would make anything your little heart desires.

He is a real nice guy and his work is the best on the planet.

If you are serious, not just internet blabbing, give me a call and I will get you in direct contact with him. 301-277-4433

Darius,

This is an older thread, so I not sure you will see this or not.

I have a 67 GTX & I plan to put aftermarkert AC in it. I want to keep my pass side fresh air funictional if at possible. All of the aftermarket AC units I have seen basicly do away with the fersh air box on the pass side (like rolling_thunder said).

I have read on the web that folks had used a driver's side mounted on the pass side. Another place it was suggested to find a heater delete car & get it's pass side fresh box.
Either way you'll have to move the evap unit more towards dash center. Hot Rod Air used to have a fresh air option for the evaps.

I'd contact member OAH & see what VA will do for you.

Let us know what you end up working out with photos of course !
