Don't know if this Youtube link will work or not...
this is the first startup and tuning on the car since I got it.
New tank, etc. in the rear, new Holley 3310 and stock intake up front, etc.

Thanks much.:icon_thumright:
The car is pretty much an unknown to me; the builder of the engine passed away right after building it; the engine has no miles on it.
I had no idea the thing had such a beast of a cam in it.

LOL thanks.
Striping will have to be done down on the highway, though. All gravel up here.

As far as restoration, what are your plans? looks to be a pretty complete car, although looks can be deceiving, (you old fart) That last part is a quote from an old car movie. Can any one guess which one?? Has Bert Reynolds and a very young Jan Michael Vincent. And some well known football players. Larry Czonka I think.

I found it...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipy3O6fPU3Q

That would be "Hooper"....and Terry Bradshaw was the "lead" football player/actor in it, don't remember who else.
Oh, and Sally Field in short shorts. Rowl rowl!

*stares off in space wistfully*

Oh yeah, the GTX, almost forgot:
Yes, still much to do on it. Haven't had it long and I'm going through it all a little bit at a time.
Brakes, electrical gremlins in the dash, fixing window regulators and such, etc. are still yet to be done, but it's mostly there and I'm trying to stick to stock as much as possible.

The original engine is long gone, suffered from a cracked block from what I was told. The original color was bronze; previous owner picked this color out and I don't have a problem with it.

Need to find a dang radiator for it, too. Somebody stuck a 318 raddy from a '65 in it. I reckon that's going to be a problem, too.

Thanks much guys. Wish I could tell you details of the engine, but those secrets died with the engine builder 4 years ago - and since it's got zero miles on it since, I'm not inclined to tear the thing down to find out.

Suffice to say it's a lot more lumpy than the 509.

I feel your "pain". I bought my car from a guy that told me that he only thing that wasn't stock was the cam chain. Yaaa right. I did find out that it has a purple cam in it. which one I don't know. But an old mopar guy told me he could find out the specs of the cam with a degree wheel. personally, I've never seen one but I can certainly guess how it works. Maybe some one around you has one and would be able to help you decipher it. I know my carb and fuel system were not up to snuff, but my idle was significantly more lumpy than yours. Makes me even more curious as to which cam I have.
As for your radiator, why do you think its not good? Does it run hot? I just had some of the same problems. there are quite a few really good threads in the cooling section of this web site.check it out. Was the car sitting for 4 years? Hopefully if its running hot it could just be a stuck thermostat.

Anyways good luck.

Trust me, a .509 purpleshaft would be significantly milder than this thing.:icon_cool:
I've got the idle up on it so some of the rumpety is smoothed out.
I don't need to know what cam it is, really. I'll try it out on the road for a while and if it's too much, no problem swapping it out.

Well, like I said, it's an original for a '65 small block, not to mention it has leaks. Car runs in my garage at 190, so outside in traffic will be an issue even if it didn't leak.
It's wrong, it's not enough, it's damaged, so it's gone soon as I get another one.

Appreciate it. Good luck with yours!

Beautiful car!! Thanks for the second video, because all through the first video I wanted to reach through the screen and rev that baby a bit to hear it roar. I may come here often just to listen to that engine. Thanks for making my day.

Very kind, thanky much.
I'm telling ya, that Holley 3310 just flat works on big block Mopars, right out of the box. Gotta be a seriously built engine for it not to - but then, that carb was originally designed by Holley for the 383 Road Runner anyways, so it figures.
Very happy they haven't changed it much over the years.
I might have to jet up a little once it's on the road, but it's dang close right now.

Thanky sir. As much as my mind tells me the full 3" is a bit much on the exhaust, she does "talk".
BOY, does she talk. :-)
