BF Goodrich Radial T/A Raised White Letters--Discontinued?!?!?

This isn't good. The classic muscle car tire--the BFG Radial T/A with raised white letters--seems to have either been discontinued or is in the process of being discontinued.

Sizes available are FAR fewer than before, and of those sizes left, many of them are on backorder nationwide with no expected arrival date.

This is terrible, I am looking for P215/65R15 for my Camaro.

However, it appears that Coker has picked up the line and is reproducing them. I know they make all the old PolyGlass GT/bias ply/redline repros, etc., and to my understanding they are VERY accurate reproductions even if the guts inside the tire are modern.

So I'm curious:

1) Can anyone speak to the quality of Coker's reproduction tires as compared to originals in terms of appearance

2) Has anyone run a set of the Radial T/A in raised white letter from Coker?

I am pretty familiar with Coker's products and they have always been top notch. I've used both the big white walls and the redlines in radial versions and they have done very well. My understanding is that Corky is just gonna keep popping out the Radial T/A the way it has always been. It really is more of a niche product now and I can see why BFG has dropped the line and let Coker take it over.

My brother-in-law is well-placed at Michelin (BFG's parent company, in case you did not know...) , told me a few weeks ago that about half of the current sizes offered, mostly 13's and 14's, will be discountinued in 2011. So if it says OUT OF STOCK now, it probably means they will not produce them anymore. A company like Coker could buy the molds, but again, they'll only do the most popular sizes, so if you're looking for a size that's oddball, get it now if you can.

Bought the radial t/as for my car a couple years back...The tire shop told me I should buy an extra set because they are discounting the 15 inch line altogther...Coker does off er raised white lettering you are looking for...

It looks like 14" and some 15" T/A's are discontinued, but most 15" are still available.

To our knowledge here, these tires have not been discontinued. The 45185 (275/60R15) is in stock and can ship right away, however, we are out of the 67244 (225/70R15) for approximately 3 weeks. If you like, you can place an order and they will ship upon their arrival.

Seems like the companies are trying to discontinue 14s and 15s all together. Looks like we may all end up with 18s and 20s

My wife's 2004 hyundai has 15s. I think new ones do too.

I think that size will be around for a while.

That the radial t/a goes in and out of production as it is not a common sized tire any longer, they told me that the factory was out of production on these currently, but it would be doing them again in 6-8 weeks. This was about a month:eusa_clap: ago. For what its worth.good luck:poke:

Ezra, I just got a set of 215-65/15's off e-bay about 3 weeks ago, seller named buywheelstoday for $86 ea & 16 shipping. Got them 2nd day after purchase from half way across the country. Just got a couple of 255/60-15s from the same people, same fast delivery, close to the same price

How do the Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/T compare to the BF T/A? Are they worth the extra $?

Calling BFG Radial T/As a niche item feels all WRONG. Every new set of tires I've bought in the last 25+ years has been from the T/A line...cars, trucks, on or off-road.

If I had 13's, or 14's, yes, I would be worried. BFG is well positioned in the market, and they know who their customer base is. Those with 15's shouldn't worry. They are the leader in aftermarket replacement tires for older cars. They wont give up that market. 14's might get kind of dear, but they will be available. BFG knows the market. They may have shorted themselves on stock due to the recent economic turndown.

This should show you what BFG won't be making anymore. But, to be honest, I can't see Goodrich selling off half a model line.
