Ok so this is in my 69 roadrunner with a 71 440. has aluminum waterpump and housing and an aftermarket 3 core 26 inch radiator. The fan clutch will not even fit on as it is exactly the same lengh as from the water pump pulley to the face of the radiator? is it just the 3 core radiator? i even tried ordering a new clutch from o'rileys and same thing.

Had the same problem, try making sure the radiator suport is not bent at all, use a shorter clutch shaft, and finnally what I did was trim off the fan blade tips that are closest to the radiator, that worked good and the small trim did not effect the air flow or balance at all but be accurate about taking the same amount off each blade. Keep in mind that the blades will flex towards the radiator some under load, not much though. Id like to talk to the genius at chrysler who put the radiator dead on straight up and down and the engine on a angle. Its the bottom part of the fan blade rotation that causes all the trouble.

I had the same problem also. I used a different fan clutch which has a shorter shaft than stock. Hayden part # 2765
Exact same bolt pattern.

Sorry havent been in the garage much and cant get a good pic by myself. The new fan clutch is great gives me a little more than 1/2 inch clearance between rad and clutch.
