Young people forget

Thought id share an email i don't know if true but was something to think about when the later generation likes to be the real boss and not really understanding some others and the things they have done in there lifetime.

You just have to appreciate this one. Young people forget that we old people had a career before we retired......

Charley, a new retiree-greeter at Wal-Mart, just couldn't seem to get to work on time.

Every day he was 5, 10, 15 minutes late. But he was a good worker, really tidy, clean-shaven, sharp-minded and a real credit to the company and obviously demonstrating their "Older Person Friendly" policies.

One day the boss called him into the office for a talk.

"Charley, I have to tell you, I like your work ethic, you do a bang-up job when you finally get here; but your being late so often is quite bothersome."

"Yes, I know boss, and I am working on it."

"Well good, you are a team player. That's what I like to hear.”

“Yes sir, I understand your concern and I’ll try harder.”

Seeming puzzled, the manager went on to comment, “It's odd though your coming in late. I know you're retired from the Armed Forces. What did they say to you there if you showed up in the morning so late and so often?"

The old man looked down at the floor, then smiled.

He chuckled quietly, then said with a grin, "They usually saluted and said, ‘Good morning, Admiral, can I get your coffee, sir?’”

Chuck Yeager is one of my personal heroes. Like you, I'd like to meet the man, even if he turned out to be an asshol*.

Yeah, my youngest daughter thinks I'm a dumb sob....may be right but she's about to find out how tough it is to support herself if she doesn't keep her pie hole shut. Only 23 and knows it all, done it all already.

Curious how the young ones can sit and tell us how and what life's all about! Always got a kick out of it, then a laugh when they come home and the first thing is, "You was right, how did you know?"

I love to brag about my kid. He's 25 and makes around 70k already. Smart as a whip and humble too. He is an accountant type and is a whiz with exel spreadsheets. Owns a duplex and is buying another house with an apartment. I also have to give my X credit(damn it) in keeping our bickering from influencing him. didn't always agree with what she did, but she did keep him on the straight and narrow when he wasn't with me. We held him to a high standard. we got lucky.

Lucky! The only famous people I'd really freak out about meeting would be him, Dan Gurney, Richard Petty and Steve McQueen, but I suppose I'll have to wait a while to meet Steve...

That swagger would be really hard not to have, like you said "been there done that".

:iamwithstupid: I agree I've gotten 2 autographs in my 52 years, 1) Barbra Eden (I dream of Jeanie) when I was a little guy, I had the hots for her..LOL... 2) Kenny "The Snake" Stabler, ex Oakland Raider QB, he was my idle when I was in high school... I've met & talk to many famous racers over the years at different track & functions, my Favorites were Richard Petty, Dan Pastorini -Drag Racer & ex NFL QB, Parnelli Jones, Dan Gurney, Bob Gliden, Ronny Sox, Grumpy Jenkins, Mat Possi, Eddy Hill, Joe Amato, "Tricky" Ricky Smith, Don Purdome, Don Garlits & John Force, amongst many, many others, never asked for an autograph from any of them, it's not really my thing, I did take photos with most of them, my former long time girl friend Lisa has the photos now, I think... Oh Well...

Thats a lot of people you mentioned there.. Once when i was going with my wife i was asked by her dad to go to the Ponderosa Park in Ohio, They had Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn there that weekend, I was close enough to them to carry on a conversation but never asked for a autograph, never see the point in it myself. To each his own, Honestly the only reason i went was to be with her! lol.
