I am restoring a 69 runner and I have the duct work off of the inside of the hood. Those pieces were rivited on from factory. I went to the auto store to buy some rivits and they are trying to talk me out of it. The ones they have they say crimp down too tight and they thik it will crack the plastic. Has anyone done this before and if so what did you use for rivits? Am I just overthinking this?

Mine is attached with self tapping screws. Not correct or OE, but keeps everything in place.

There are special rivets with very large heads that are used for fiberglass applications. You can thumb around here http://www.mcmaster.com/#pop-rivets/=du4236 and see if there is anything that matches your sample. I just plugged in 1/2" dia head and aluminum. There is someone that restores the fiberglass parts and may sell the exact rivets but I don't know who it is. I just checked R/T Specialties and found them http://www.rtspecialties.net/proddetail.asp?prod=1016940 But I bet you can get the same thing in McMaster Carr for less.

By the way the fresh air hood for the Road Runner is called an Air Grabber. Ramcharger is for the Dodge cars.
