Building a nose

Does anyone have templates to build a Daytona nose? Being a body man the metal work doesn't scare me I just need a starting point that doesn't break the bank quite as much as the dayclona stuff does.

How about a wing template?

Does a 70 coronet rear window work for the plug?

I know I have heard people using mid 70's Vega rear hatches for the rear window plug look almost identical to the Daytona rear window, and I am sure someone could take some nose and wing measurements off a original to get you headed in the right direction.

There are two basic versions of the Vega hatchback, '71-'73 and '74-'77. I can't find anywhere which of the two should be used for a Daytona clone.

I have a piece of the original screen mesh material that was used over the air intake that I am not using, send pm if interested.

And I haven't been able to find any vegas recently in the junk yards.....

I would guess the '71-'73 but thats just a guess.

There is a guy over on Dodgecharger.com who built his own Daytona nose and it looks amazing. I would love to attempt it after I unburry myself from all these projects I have going on!

I heard Erik Nelson makes a really nice grill. I just bought one for my Superbird. Among other things.

Erik Nelson is alive and well. I think Jack Mccaughey is having health issues. I just talked to Erik about a month ago, he mentioned that he was thinking about reproducing an accurate steel nose for Daytonas.

I emailed Jack on his website and haven't heard anything back from him. I'm needing a nose and window plug and wanted steel. Does anyone know what the steel pieces weigh compared to the fiberglass parts?

I wonder when AMD will have them available?

I'm not sure they will. I can't see AMD making them no more than they would sell.

I was looking on AMD's sight for the 70 coronet fenders. No luck and I can't see them making those either anytime soon.

Jack finally emailed me back and said he's swamped with orders all of the sudden. His nose was $7K vs 5K for Gean's. I need a window plug (which Jack makes for $2800) but will hold off on that until I can find a glass window.
