I need to remove my dash so that I can begin to restore my heater box. The car was a factory air, but the previous owner removed all the ac equipment and totally bypassed the heater core. I need to remove the unit and I am not exactly sure how to remove the complete dash assembly. I do not want ac, but I do need heat! Can someone please help.

It's been a long time, but I believe removing the glove box and loosening the bottom edge bolts of dash were all I had to do to remove htr. box on my '68 Bee.(did not come with a/c).That may make a difference,I don't know.Good luck.Jeff

Had mine out as part of my restoration (still in progress). With the front seat out of the car, you should be able to get to everything while lying on the floor on your back. There are also several studs (3?) that protrude through the fire wall that have nuts on the engine bay side. The box comes out as a whole unit, then you can dismantle it once out. Removing the glove box (that was a challenge) did give me more visibility.

In order to remove the dash you will have to remove the windshield as there are 5 or six 10-32 screws hidden under the window rubber. If that's what you want to do then go for it but removing the heater box by itself can be done without removing the dash.

I got my heater out without removing the dash. Wasn't too bad as I remember.
