Max wedge or Hemi ?AdamR 07-04-2008, 04:59 PM All right which would you rather have, A Max Wedge car or an early Hemi ? 69 Runner 07-05-2008, 12:28 AM Well......I've got experience with Maxi's, so I know how damn fast they can be. All the 64 Hemi's were supposed to be aluminum nosed cars. But they weren't. I have seen one documented steel nosed car that was supposedly some sort of NASCAR piece....although this particular car looked like it had never been to the track. GG claims it's real. So if I had a choice, maybe that one car 440scout 07-17-2008, 03:20 PM All right which would you rather have, A Max Wedge car or an early Hemi ?are we comparing 426 hemi with max wedge or "early" hemi 331 354 392 etc?? AdamR 07-17-2008, 03:28 PM 426s. 69 Runner 07-17-2008, 04:24 PM None of the earlies were in B body cars Big Mike 07-17-2008, 05:50 PM I'm a Wedge kinda guy :D 68GTS340 07-18-2008, 02:53 AM I have fond memories of my 64 fury convert, stage two wedge...many many years ago abodyjoe 07-18-2008, 05:24 AM depends on th car. street rod i want an early hemi. regular production car max wedge. swapdaddyxx1 07-18-2008, 08:08 AM I have had a Hemi,67 GTX 4 spd. Nice, but I prefer wedges, doesn't have to be a maxi. toniflexen 07-18-2008, 09:42 AM I would prefer MW in these years! 63hemipolara 07-18-2008, 01:56 PM I guess I'm kinda partial to those kind of cars, heh.:D John Lang 07-18-2008, 02:17 PM Seeing as i currently have a 65 Hemi Dodge Coronet, i can tell you that the cost of a race Hemi is CRAZY. Thats why the car is going to be for sale real soon! It's a clone A990. Dam good one at that! I also have a 440.6pak, RR which a stock elim car, and it costs about 70% less. Not as fast, but a whole lot of fun!!!!!!!!! John Lang POPs 07-19-2008, 01:20 PM I Prefer a Wedge/4speed in a early 60s B-Body, Old School But in a Rat rod or street rod it's got to be some kind of a "HEMI" Loud and Proud 71Charger 07-19-2008, 08:07 PM For drool appeal, it would have to be the Hemi...seeing those huge valve covers is impressive! If you wanna go fast and have the bucks to build a hemi, go hemi. And if you don't go wedge. With todays after market stuff you can go just as fast with either motor, but the wedge will cost less... GTXperience 07-19-2008, 08:40 PM I agree with 71Charger. If money were no object and if it was more of a show car, I would go with the hemi. If it was a street/strip car and money was an issue, I would be working with the wedge. 383man 07-19-2008, 09:18 PM I love Hemi's but it's just something about Max Wedge cars that I love even more. So I gotta go with the Maxie first. Ron 69 Runner 07-19-2008, 09:38 PM They are really cool looking. It's the crossram, two fours, and of course the angel wings smokinwoody 07-19-2008, 11:53 PM maxwedge is cool but so are HEMI's...Im giving up a maxwedge build for a HEMI one... MaxWedge-Warren 07-20-2008, 07:21 PM I'm a wedge guy. But, I wouldn't mind a hemi too. Gary67 07-21-2008, 12:05 PM Max Wedge car.....It's too easy to change plugs on hemi cars... 440scout 07-21-2008, 03:55 PM None of the earlies were in B body cars i know i just had never heard of anyone calling the 426 an "early" hemi it just threw me off... i guess i should get used to it now... i cant afford either one but i think i would go with the wedge.... MaxWedge-Warren 07-21-2008, 04:12 PM Gary, It's even harder to get the passengers side valve cover off to adjust the roller rockers.http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll142/426wedgie/My%20cars/carlisle2.jpg OHD 07-21-2008, 04:21 PM early or later round chambered heads for me.... with simple induction systems Gary67 07-21-2008, 04:30 PM [QUOTE=MaxWedge-Warren;2371]Gary, It's even harder to get the passengers side valve cover off to adjust the roller rockers. I'll say..... 69 Runner 07-21-2008, 04:59 PM That's why God invented Hydraulic cams:angry3: rolling_Thunder 07-21-2008, 08:02 PM I like wedges... 62MAX 07-23-2008, 03:27 PM So do I!:D http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a12/Bill413x2/MVC-047S-2.jpg 63hemipolara 07-28-2008, 04:23 AM Max Wedge car.....It's too easy to change plugs on hemi cars... The plugs maybe, but to take off the valve cover on the pass side for a valve adjustment, not so easy :( I have to drop the entire engine to clear the boss on the fire wall on the pass side, no fun! wagonmaster 07-28-2008, 05:58 AM I'm a wedge kinda guy... '68-Charger-Guy 07-28-2008, 07:57 AM Since it would be a week end toy i'd say HEMI.... Big valve covers are cool. RPM 07-28-2008, 11:45 AM Sheeeeeeesh I have to choose ??? Guess Im a Wedge head ! -RPM 64plymouthsportsfury 07-28-2008, 05:00 PM I like the Hemi but I only can afford the WEDGE! 5wndwcpe 07-29-2008, 02:13 PM I'd take the wedge. That way I could call my garage the maxi-pad. | |||
