Hey guys whats the deal with the late 360s are they balanced the same as the early ones ????? I want to run an early 904 trans and B&M flexplate that takes care of the External balance......Also what heads did the 94 360s come with ????? The exhaust ports are tiny and i cant seem to find any casting numbers when i pulled the rocker covers, Any info is welcomed.....Thanks

Externally balanced, different from LA engines. Last flexplate on the list for an 727 auto trans.

The "Magnum" heads were considered a better set-up than the old "LA" heads.
Here's a good starting source for info.

Hope this helps.

We used a 1995 360 with the A518 overdrive, wiring harness, computer and cruise control in my wife's 73 Cuda. That car starts and drives like a brand new car. And with the cruise set at 70 on our flat interstate highways, she's getting 29 mpg.

Early J and O, LA heads and intake was a popular swap in the early days of the magnum series engine. All you had to do was have custom push rods made and run an electric fuel pump. Going the other way was still is a popular swap, same deal custom push rods. The first I did I had to angle drill the intake to head bolt hole so I could run a carb.. The LA bolts go in at a angle and the magnum holes go straight in. I also used a LA roller cam and timing cover so I could run a mechanical fuel pump. That was in 96 today all the stuff you need is available.

Thanks guys, that sheds some light things.....It will get a complete freshen up later but for now it runs too good to start messin with. Now just got to get the flexplate to match up to the 904 trans :edgy:
