brian.linn 05-07-2009, 07:28 PM I recently changed out my 8-3/4 for a Dana 60 on my car... here are the before and after pics. FYI, I bought the new Super Stock springs from Jegs about 2 years ago and what a mess. From the main front eye bolt to the set screw for the spring perches, were off about a 1/4 of an inch. I had to tear down the old springs and new springs to build my own. But, it's finally done, now all I need to do is yank out the puny 273 for my 440. Any suggestions/ideas for the headers, other than TTI, I am using a big block cable shift 727 and heard the TTI's have some clearance issues. Right now I'm leaning towards Hooker.
Oh, BTW, I am also using this forum to show my lil' bro' who also is a gear head currently attending Wyotech's Hot Rod and Body program, the progress on my car. I am trying to sway him to the dark side of Mopar. Big "shout out" BJ!!! Keep up the hard work, You're making big bro' PROUD!!!

brian.linn 08-07-2010, 08:19 PM I got my engine back and ready to start putting it all together, after I get the fire wall and engine bay painted and possibly yank the K-member for some freshening up... BTW, anyone have any thoughts on buying a used converter? It is a Turbo Action (Part #17805??) 10" Street/Strip, about 15 years old with very minimal use... I know the owner pretty well and I trust him, but I would like to get some opinions on buying a used converter... Anyway, thanks for the kind words about my car, I will get some more pics and get them posted!!! Hope to see everyone next weekend at the Nat's in Ohio!!!!

Dodge 330 11-26-2010, 06:57 PM Sweet!
We need to all show up next Spring at the Friday night cruise at Central and West and do a Mopar Early B show of force! LOL!
brian.linn 11-26-2010, 09:09 PM HELL YEAH!!!! I should be ready to go by then. With J, Randy,Chuck and myself, we can represent with you!! And yes those are A100 van seats, but they are for my '65 Dodge 2 dr sedan. I have another set I may put in there, but I will decide that later.... Very observant though!!
SandDiesel 11-29-2010, 02:37 PM What headers did you go with and are they 1 7/8" to 2" stepped or bigger? They look really good.
HitIt 11-29-2010, 03:30 PM that car is looking great!! the paint even seems to be buffing out quite nicely. Keep it up!
brian.linn 11-29-2010, 05:30 PM The headers are 2-1/8" TTI...
I think you need to put the old front runners on and show some pics on here of that, with the black steelies on the back.
1968_Roadrunner 11-30-2010, 09:02 AM I just purchases a TCI, 890-142200 CONVERTER S/FIGHTER 727... Any thoughts on this piece?
I'm running the same converter in my RR. Love it!!! (I bought it used) LOL! But so far so good!
1968_Roadrunner 11-30-2010, 09:04 AM I would like to hear more about the powerplant. Sweet looking car by the way!
brian.linn 11-30-2010, 04:25 PM It's a steel crank 440 bored .030 over with some (unknown to me) race pistons from my buddy's motor. Comp springs,
Comp cam:
gross valve lift .018 intake, .020 exhaust
duration @ .050
intake 274
exhaust 282
11.5:1 compression, Holley 850 CFM, ported steel heads, reverse valve body manual shift 727 trans, line lock.... I'm sure i left stuff out, but oh well...

What are you using for a shifter?
I've been looking at all the different types/brands and haven't decided on one I really like yet. My 727 has a Cheetah manual valvebody too but it's fwd pattern.
brian.linn 11-30-2010, 07:36 PM I'm staying with the old school column shift!! HELL YEAH!! Now I need to find the reverse shift pattern detint...

One of the guys on Moparts was reproducing the reverse manual valvebody lens that came on the A990 cars....
I really liked the slapstick shifter in my '71 Cuda but one of those would look out of place (plastic t-handle) in an early B. Pushbutton would be the ultimate but too much of a hassle and too complex to fit to the later trans. at this point. Maybe a Pro-stick with a red ball handle to match the interior?!

You need one of the original B&M Quick Click shifters with the chrome cover.Sorta like this one only with the chrome cover.

Yeah, something old school would be way cool in this car!
I think I recall seeing a pic of that shifter with the chrome cover on the HAMB.
65hemihead 12-01-2010, 01:52 PM I bought mine from the guy on moparts.I think his screen name is area51.You can do a search on Moparts.BTW very nice piece, was not cheap though.

moparquest 12-08-2010, 05:02 PM Awesome car, dude. I'm restoring a 65 satty myself. Question....can I tell what options the car originally came with by the VIN in the engine bay? It's slightly differnt in format than the one inside the drivers side door. If so, how? THanks for any help!
GrabberOrange69 12-08-2010, 08:11 PM Nice ride. I want to drop a big wedge in mine too! Keep the photos coming.
brian.linn 12-08-2010, 08:11 PM That's a question for the HARDCORE numbers matching :headbang: dudes, to be honest, I try and focus my knowledge around the stripped down factory race cars with very minimal options.
I normally do a Mopar Vin search using Yahoo or Google... Hope that helps some...
BTW, I bought the reverse shift pattern detint, very nice piece, but holy cow was it pricey!!! I'd do it again though :thebirdman:

Did you get it from "topside"?
gastona 12-09-2010, 12:11 PM Super nice car! Not to side bar the conversation, but I notice that the car had a Lloyd McKee dealer badge on the back. Lloyd McKee was a Plymouth dealer in Albuquerque, NM which was in operation from the mid 50's to the late 80's. I thought I would mention it just in case you didn't know.
65hemihead 12-09-2010, 12:59 PM Yes it was topside.I paid $275 for mine free shipping though!
brian.linn 12-09-2010, 06:22 PM Yes I paid $150 for mine with free shipping...
brian.linn 12-16-2010, 07:47 PM I did buy this car from Albuquerque, NM a couple of years ago... I am very bummed and pretty much sick of the car at this point, I need to escape from it for a while. I got burned on some shoddy body work & the guy didn't finish it. So, I have a 1/2 assed attempt at body-work and a messy garage. I am torn between putting the car in primer or trying to match the paint where I filled the side-trim holes... I guess I also need some thoughts and encouragement as I want to drink till I puke and puke till I pass-out thinking about this project... I know it's probably not as bad as it looks, I'm just a little irked about the whole deal!
gastona 12-16-2010, 08:52 PM That sucks. I'm sorry to hear about the body work fiasco. The car is super cool and the work you have done to it so far is awesome! Don't get discouraged keep your mind on the end goal, you'll get there.

Mine isn't perfect either but I put it in black primer and plan on beating the piss out of it! It's a work in progress and I figure I'll straighten it a panel at a time until it's ready for shiney paint!
There's not many cars still out there like ours and they definitely get more attention than a Fox bodied stang or a F-body Camaro! The old guys really sit up and take notice since they remember cars like this at the dragstrip!
Once you hit the loud pedal you won't care about what it looks like!!
brian.linn 12-27-2010, 12:01 AM Well one of our fellow B-Body only members RJB helped me with my starter and got the header bolted on... Thanks for the Help J!! Now, once I spend the week moving, I will get back to building this car!! Thanks again J!! I needed a re-charge!!
Dodge 330 12-27-2010, 06:02 PM Cool! Get it finished up so we can all go play this summer!
Thats what fellow B-Body friends our for, to help when you get burned out or just need that push over the top, its all down her from here.
brian.linn 04-18-2011, 07:59 PM Getting closer. I need to complete the wiring and it should be ready to fire... I also purchased a disc brake kit, now I need to get a new master cylinder

moparsteve636 04-19-2011, 10:12 AM PM sent.BTW cars looking good!!
SUPERSTOCKRACER 04-19-2011, 08:03 PM You do nice work.
brian.linn 11-25-2011, 05:56 PM Just got the disc brakes put on, the car turns over, but I need to rework a fuel line and add tranny fluid before I get the car running for good! I'm getting closer, but my wife and I started building a house, so my time has been consumed with her project... Hopefully by February I will be able to drive it (weather permitting).
Goldencommando 11-25-2011, 08:25 PM Don't know if I missed it in reading through but did you ever list the tire - wheels sizes used on the car? Love the looks of it, more pictures please.

Yes, they are 315-60-15. And yes, I moved the springs in. Getting closer to at least getting my house done, and getting me back on track to getting this thing on the road...
brian.linn 12-05-2011, 04:20 PM Did you get it from "topside"?
Yes, topside was very easy to deal with!!

brian.linn 01-20-2012, 08:28 PM Moving into my new house this weekend... My car has been moved to my Dad's shop WITH the disc brakes installed :headbang: I hope to finish up some loose ends and get the car running in a couple of weeks. I will also get a few more pics. Thanks for the encouragement RJB and Dodge330... I hope to be burning rubber along side you two in the very near future!
Dodge 330 01-21-2012, 10:03 PM I hope so too!
I still have minor things to finish up before I can take the car for a spin but the wife-god decided we needed some new furniture.
fritter 01-22-2012, 09:25 AM Very cool project. Make sure you wear Levis, a Hanes white tshirt, and have a Dick Landy stogie hanging out of your mouth when you drop the hammer on the last yellow. :D
moparsteve636 01-22-2012, 10:11 AM Coming along nicely!Keep going you'll git er done! BTW you will have to vent your fuel cell to the outside of the car to pass tech at an NHRA track.
My67HemiGTX 01-22-2012, 02:28 PM Thats a very clean 65 to start with. Nice stance and good luck.
brian.linn 04-11-2012, 08:34 PM Getting closer... Fitting the brake hoses and rear brake lines...
