Hey guys, need some help. I am trying to locate correct pieces for my hood latch release. 1971 Satellite. It is a long rod 3/16 diameter.? And I need to know how it was orginally attached to latch and body. I am using a homemade rig right now and it looks homemade. :black_eye:

Even if someone could take pics of their set up. I could use the info to improve my set up.

Sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday Bob, but here's what I have on mine. The rod is correct, but the stabilizer at the bottom is my own rig.

Yes...That really does help. I would like to find the original style rod. Have not had much luck around this area. Actually my home made one is not to far off. I have the grab hook turned the other way and a piece of vacuum hose over it to protect fingers. I like your solution for stability at the bottom. Wonder what the bend in the middle is for? Thank you for your help.

Just a guess, but I'd say the bend in there acts as like a shock absorber... if your latch is sticking, it gives a little to let the rod flex or to keep it from shearing, even tho I know I"M not strong enough to shear it.

No promises, but I know a guy who was taking a 72 apart, and it may have one, but it seems it had an inside release. give me a week or so to talk to him, then give this thread a bump if I've not answered.

Is that an air grabber or have you just blacked out the center of the hood?

Not an air grabber Buck, just blacked out. I will post a pic of the car so you can get a better look.

Guess who has most of an air grabber set up he's not using? :) I have new from Stinger fiberglass: the bubble, scoop door, underhood air box, the scoop hinge, flapper door, and mounting studs. Used is the rubber seal, and the factory air cleaner. I've got about $1150 in it, if you make a trip to WV/OH/KY to pick it up, I even have an extra hood I'll throw in, all for $750. I may go to the Nats, not sure how my physical health is going to hold up, but if I do, I could take it there. There are some pictures of it on Photobucket, but I can't get it to load right now.

Car looks nice, but then, I'm kinda partial to orange lol
