First what chance out of 100% would this car start it's life with a big block. Number two. The guy that owns it seems to know his stuff thinks it has a 360 in it witch weren't around in 68. Would this beast have a 318 in it to start? Number three. You can't mount a small block onto a big block cross member can you?
Thanks.

Couldn't get a 360 in 68. check the VIN and/or the fender tag. They will tell you what you want to know.
Sorry...missed the last part. Yes, you can swap a big or a small block on the same K frame in a 68 no prob.

Over 7000 68 Coronet 500's came with a 383.You need the vin numbers off the dash. The 5th digit is for the engine size.

Right, I looked them up. It looks like anything below a G is a small block so next time I have a look at the car I'll check the vin.
