thebankerstoy 08-26-2009, 05:04 PM I have been thinking about and wondering if it might be possible to add a feature to the exsisting forums to better serve the members on FBBO?
What I had in mind was to include a "sticky thread" at the top of each forum that would include links and reference to aftermarket vendors, new and used parts being sold by FBBO members and links to web sites such as eBay, Craigslist and others for members to use when they are looking for parts and services for a specific model year of cars In my case, it would be a thread in the 66-70 B-Body forum that would be specific to 1966-67 B-Body Dodge and Plymouth's. In this thread, there would ONLY be references for the 66-67 model year cars. In that same 66-70 forum, we could also have a separate "sticky thread" for 68 ,69 and 70 cars, or group them together if the 68-70 owners wanted it that way.
I do realize that you already have a "for sale", "parts wanted" and "vendors" forum in place, but I have found it very time consuming to have to go to several different locations to look at these topics and have to look through lots of posts that do not help me find what I need for my 66 Coronet 500. It would be similar to how Mopar Collectors Guide Magazine has their classified ad's set up. Instead of having to look through every ad in the magazine, you can go directly to the section that deals with the model and year of the car you own. If I could go to a single thread to find all of the above information for MY car and cars similar to it, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time and consideration of my ideas and if you're in doubt, maybe you could run an "opinion poll" on this topic and see if it would fly or not..

Joeychgo 08-26-2009, 07:09 PM so your suggesting a link to an ebay search for a particular model year car?
rumblefish360 08-26-2009, 08:19 PM I think it's just a "Stickey Thread" atop each section of grouped years for parts wanted and for sale. This would include vendors of the aftermarket as well as forum members.
Bankers toy, what your asking has merit, it would create more area's to look when people are just browsing for parts in general since the cars share alot of mechanical parts and electrical parts.
Body parts or parts specific for a certain car would be the bennifit and the only one.
It could induce someone to post the same ad 10 times over for, lets say, a pulley system that would fit all big block engines, into each sticky in each catogory for each model.
The best bet for the seller is to start his topic with something like "66 Charger parts" and list them. What ever may cross over to a Cornet is something the seller and/or the Cornet owner should know or find out if it works or not.
This multi posting happens now when someone is selling a part that works on, lets say, small blocks. An intake, stock lets say. The poster/seller lists in each board and multi times under different headings.
thebankerstoy 08-26-2009, 09:08 PM While engines, transmissions and similar parts are interchangeable from one year to another in some cases, parts such as interior parts, body parts, trim parts, window glass and many other similar parts are one or two model years only and it wastes a lot of the members time having to go to a generalized "for sale", or "parts wanted" forum and have to look through lots of ad's for other model year cars other than what they own. Once again, in my case, I own a 1966 Coronet 500, so I am not going to be interested in ad's for 68 70 B-Body pars, or 70-74 E-Body parts ect, but as it stands now, I have to sift through all of those ad's in a hope that someone might have something I need for my 66 B-Body. The same reasoning applies to aftermarket parts and ebay auctions, in that I would be VERY interested in new or used parts for my particular car and if there was a thread that I could go to for those types of leads, it would be very helpful. As mentioned, it could be similar to how Mopar Collectors Guide sets up their ad's.
I would be very happy to start and watch over the thread for the 66-67 B-Body cars as far as listing as many vendors, reproduction parts and links to parts for these particular cars. Maybe I could get it started and if you folks don't like it, it could be deleted?
Thanks again for your time and if you would like to talk to me more about this, please e-mail me @ thebankerstoy@cox.net.

Wait? Where is the thread going? For sale section right? or the grouped year for your car? Grouped year I thinks.
Joeychgo 08-27-2009, 04:19 PM I am not sure either. To be honest, I dont understand what is being asked for here.

If possible, I would like to see it posted in the 66-70 B-Body forum. It would also be very helpful if it could become a "sticky thread" so that it will remain at the top of the page and easy to find for the 66-67 B-Body owners. Maybe it could be called something like "1966-67 B-Body Cars - Parts, Vendors, Links"
If this idea works out as well as I hope and believe it will, it could then be done the same way for other model year cars.

69 Runner 08-27-2009, 06:47 PM The only real issue(s) I see with this are
1) people posting stuff that doesn't belong (which they do now) and
2) the post becoming so long it will (eventually) be a pain in the butt to look through.

Hello Tem,
The first issue that you bring up could be handled with the "delete" button by a Moderator, or myself if given the authority to do so. The second is not really a problem, as the newer posts are always added to the top of the thread and if someone needs information from an earlier post, they would have to look through the thread, but they have to do that now with the current format. With this new format, at least they will be looking through topics that all refer to the types of cars they own.

The third is that vendors who want to advertise, can advertise. Why give some vendor free advertising when others pay to help support the site?

I would think that if companies are promoted in this web site to our members, who then go and purchase product from them, those newly promoted companies would become a lot more interested in supporting this awesome web site. I'm also sure that the current companies that have ad's on this site will be included in the new threads when their product meets the needs of the cars involved in the thread.

What I'm proposing is one sticky thread located in the 66-70 B-Body forum that includes anything concerning ONLY 1966 and 1967 Dodge and Plymouth B-Body cars, instead of having to look through three or four different forums that contain lots of topics that aren't related to cars like mine.

Yeah...that's what pays our salaries............:rolling:
rumblefish360 08-28-2009, 07:45 AM What do ya say Joe? Give it a shot?
thebankerstoy 09-04-2009, 05:16 PM Just wondering if any decision has been made yet regarding my request to start a special sticky thread for the 66-67 B-Body cars?

CudaChick1968 09-05-2009, 09:45 PM Maybe this is too easy of an answer, but there's always the "search" key.
