Hey guys, I'm rebuilding a 74 727 tranny that is going behind a 383 in my 69 Charger and I'm about to start putting everything back together. When I took the front clutch drum apart, it had the 9 spring configuration in it. The book I have says that configuration is for 225, 318, and 360 motors. It also says that for a 383 motor, the tranny should have 8 springs, and for a 383hp the tranny should have 6 springs.
Should I leave the 9 springs in it? Should I go with the 8 spring config.?
What would happen if I went with the 6 springs behind a regular 383?
