I bought this 1962 Plymouth Belvedere 2dr sedan (Post Car) . Its a real nice drag car . My question is what makes a plymouth a Savoy..Will it have a tag ? or is a Savoy a trim package or interior package .

Thanks Tommy

Welcome, looks like a cool car.

It's probably just different trim or something like that.

I'm not sure about the '62 models, but I had a '64 Belvedere. In that year there was a Savoy, then Belvedere, then Fury, then Sport Fury. They were the same body, but they had different exterior and interior trim levels. The Savoy was the plain Jane.

Yup. Best I can recall a Savoy (pronounced suh-voy) was the bottom of the barrel in trim etc.

The first part of the V.I.N. I believe will tell you the actual model. I am not real familiar with a lot of the details of the 62-64 cars. There should be a web site that is dedicated to these cars that will have your answer.

21 = 6 cyl Savoy
31 = 8 cyl Savoy

For that era, the body style (sedan, HT, convertible) is not listed in the VIN but on the fender tag.

As stated above, the Savoy was Plymouth's low level trim car in '62.
