Charger Back on the Road!

After sitting for a month due to a blown engine, I got the Charger back on the road last weekend. I've been thrashing on it the last 2 weeks trying to get it done. I found a running 440 from a motorhome locally here, bought it complete carb to pan with all the drive pulleys and brackets and the trans for $700.
I cleaned it all up, resealed it, installed myoil pan & pickup, intake & carb and then dropped it in. It took a little while for the oil pressure to build up, but once it did, it fired right off and idled smooth at 950 RPM's. Not bad for an engine that's been sitting for about 6 months or so.
After I timed it, and set the carb where it needed to be, I took it out for a ride and was quite suprised at how much torque it has for being a 1974 engine out of a motorhome.
I'm just glad I didn;t lose the whole summer with it.
Here is a little video of it....

Did you use the trans from the M/H or the one that was in the car ?

That's great. We use to pull 440s out of the boneyards and motorhomes change inductions and put headers on them and run nitrous until they blew. Then we would just repeat steps 1 through 4 and hit the track again. Of course, this was many years ago. Congratulations on getting her back on the road. Whoever was taking the video was a getting a kick out of the car, the burnout and especially the horn.

I used the tranny that was in the car already. It shifts good, the fluid is red, so I figured it was best to leave well enough alone. THe trans out of the motorhome has a bolt on yoke also, so I'm not sure it would work in the car with the driveshaft.

That's right. It's like the old ball & trunnion setup.
