I'm looking for a set of Hurst Pistol Grips in cherry wood, OR a woodworker who can make a set for a reasonable price.....We can supply the wood blanks.....

Any info. or links appreciated.

It's been a while since I've had a subscription, but it seems I remember someone with an add in MCG that was doing custom pistol grip wood.

then again....sometimes I hear things too:worry:

With most good woodworking shops charging $50 an hour these days, he would have to be pretty good to knock two opposite parts out in much less than four hours.

Are you getting these variations at Firestone Collectibles?

only the last wood ones , all the colored flamed maple ones are made by a guy in south america. He used to make them for HARMS auto but quit. I talked him into making one last run of them, they are made like guitars .

If there are shops out there charging $50 an hr I should subcontract out to them cause that cheaper then most shops I know of.

I understand your contentions about shop rates.........but it doesn't negate the fact that $200.+ is just too much for a set of grips in my opinion........Those who sell them made of different wood variations get from $50. for bare wood (nice, too) up to the exotic custom grips we see here for $120...........

I can buy an exotic wood Strat body for $200........All things considered, I'll just bide my time and find the Cherry, OR make them myself.

In the meantime, if anyone else has a link or a contact for them, post it........there are a lot of enthusiasts who'll appreciate it.

A while back Scott Smith of Harm's Automotive used to offer these. I don't know if he was having them made in Puru or was buying them from one of the sources listed above. It might be worth checking though.
