63hemipolara 08-17-2008, 07:41 PM I'm having a bit of a personal delema here and I'm seeking the opinions of Mopar brotherin to hopefully help me decide what hubcap looks better on my Polara, I know neither is correct, but neither is the 15" wheels, so we will see what looks better:
A: attachments 63POLARA10 and 11 are the originals that were on the car along with a side shot in the 5th picture 1963Dodge_Polara_Hemi240
B: attachments 1963_Dodge_Polara_Hemi225 and 226 are recent ebay purchases with the side shot in the 6th picture 1963_Dodge_Polara_Hemi257
Please help me resolve this delema...
mattsmopars 08-17-2008, 07:47 PM The only thing that i see that is wrong with that car is that it is not in my drive way!!!!!!!!!!!!!:rolling:
69 Runner 08-17-2008, 07:52 PM I added a pole for ya:grin:
696pack 08-17-2008, 07:56 PM It has become a "fashion statement" as of late because many cars are now "broadcast sheet" restored. The guys that ordered those cars new would be rolling on the floor laughing about all of this. Personally I don't care for any of what is pictured. As you can see from my signature I was there when these cars were sold new. Dealers for stock and buyers who ordered these cars new ordered them with these wheel and bottle caps because they were standard. Not wanting to waste any money when the day after the buyer took delivery of it they were going to put custom wheels of their choice on the car. You seldom saw a Hipo car in those days sporting those steel wheels and bottle caps.
So my vote is to put some nice looking, period correct, aftermarket wheels on it. But it is your car and that is just my OPINION so do what YOU want.
69 Runner 08-17-2008, 07:59 PM Sorry. Aftermarket wheels are not an option. Your opinion doesn't count.
NEXT!
Mike_Dodge 08-17-2008, 09:05 PM Just me.. but I like the ones in the first 2 pics.
GTXperience 08-18-2008, 11:04 AM Sorry 63hemi. I didn't vote because I like them both.
eldubb440 08-18-2008, 11:09 AM yup...both are very cool.... get a car for each set
63hemipolara 08-18-2008, 11:20 AM C'mon guys, you're not helping, the 2nd car for the other set is an idea, now where's that lottery ticket again??? :-D
eldubb440 08-18-2008, 11:29 AM how much for the set you dont want?
69 Runner 08-18-2008, 12:24 PM There are fewer votes than there are "views'
someone isn't voting....:angry2:
ACME A12 08-18-2008, 01:29 PM I voted for "A", but either look good. I just prefer the simpler ones over the "Devil's Tower" version... The fact of the matter is that car would look good with just about any rolling stock...dubs and some of the other inane offerings that are currently popular with generation z notwithstanding...

I appreciate that very much, polling is almost equal at this point.
Mike_Dodge 08-18-2008, 01:35 PM Sorry.. I had a blonde moment last night and forgot to cast a vote
eldubb440 08-18-2008, 04:32 PM i didnt vote cuz i like em both
GTXperience 08-18-2008, 06:11 PM 63hemi, I am going to vote for the towers only because IMO, they are a little more unique and don't see them run as often as the others. I am only casting my vote for them because I am being strong-armed into making a decision and still like both caps on your car. ;)

383man 08-18-2008, 07:39 PM Its a tuff one as I love your car and both look so sweet !! But I think I kinda like "A the Dart like caps " best. But everytime I see your car it makes me realalize why I like the 63 Mopars so much. Ron

Thanks Ron, also what one person pointed out to me was in the "Dart" caps the serrated outer lines match the 3 black inlays in the chrome trim on the rear 1/4 panel, see attachments, but I like the Devil's tower ones because of their unique shape and the"fratzog" really stands out in the center of them, decisions, decisions, decisions....
aaqar2 08-19-2008, 06:59 AM I "poled" Ya too
62MAX 08-19-2008, 08:13 PM i didnt vote cuz i like em both
I didn't vote because I don't like either one.:imho:
charger70 08-19-2008, 08:37 PM Don't tell my preacher, I voted with the Devil this time.
very hard call, but I like the unusual.
Also the deeper rear wheel can handle the fuller look.
'68-Charger-Guy 08-20-2008, 08:49 AM Both caps look great on your car. I like cap A better overal ( just between the two caps not taking in consideration what they are going on). But.... I voted for B, just because of the car they would go on. The front end styling of your car is "busy" and differant. Alot of people consider it love it or hate it ( I love it myself )... Keep with the "Dodge to be differant" theym and go with B.
Just my 2 or 3 cents.
5wndwcpe 08-20-2008, 01:20 PM I voted for the devils tower caps because they remind me of Close Encounters of the Thrid Kind which had Melinda Dillon in it, who also played Ralphies mother in a Christmas Story and was also in Slap Shot where she was in bed with Paul Newman, topless and sportin' some friggin' killer nipples and....wait, what was this post about again ?
63hemipolara 08-20-2008, 06:54 PM Yeah nipples like little ROCKS! You could have spun rings on those, or dog dish hub caps maybe, yeah that's what this thread is about, heh.
69 Runner 08-20-2008, 07:17 PM guess I'm gonna have to rent that

69 Runner 08-20-2008, 08:17 PM That's kinda like playing "Hi Bob" while watching Bob Newhart
63hemipolara 08-20-2008, 08:37 PM Or doing the George Thorogood, one scotch, one bourbon, one beer contest. End result.....complete abombilation!
Plymouthfan 08-21-2008, 06:44 AM You can't go wrong with either... just get both and swap back and forth, or put two in the front and the other two in the back, lol

Funny thing is I have been recently been doing one show with one set then the next with another. I have a really big indoor show (kinda like a mini SEMA) in about 6 weeks and want to see what people like better here and I'll go with those for the show. I want to blow them away.
69 Runner 08-21-2008, 11:40 AM Use one cap on the left, and the other on the right
63hemipolara 08-27-2008, 04:39 AM So far it looks like the "Dart type" is the one I will stay with as majority rules. I still like the devil's tower ones and may alternate on occasion. If I ever bring the car up the 1/4 mile it may also save me a billionth of a second in aerodynamics. Every little bit helps, right?
rrbrucea 08-27-2008, 06:30 AM What can I say, I like it just as drawn in your cartoon! But as 69Runner says, if you really want people to say, "WTF?", put one pair on one side and the other pair on the other side...
63hemipolara 08-27-2008, 07:33 AM That would be almost as "WTF" as the stying of those cars, heh.

I'm feeling more like that every day.:older OS:

Maybe for a street race, but any track I have ever run at is not going to let you run with ANY kind of hub cap. Just have your wheels painted gloss black and run chrome lug nut like the factgory A12 cars did.

Or halk light blue and half dark blue like the Ramchargers did with their cars
ocdart 08-28-2008, 09:29 AM Thanks Ron, also what one person pointed out to me was in the "Dart" caps the serrated outer lines match the 3 black inlays in the chrome trim on the rear 1/4 panel, see attachments, but I like the Devil's tower ones because of their unique shape and the"fratzog" really stands out in the center of them, decisions, decisions, decisions....Are the polls closed yet? I voted for the 'Devils Tower' caps 'cause they help fill those big rear wheel wells and add a bit more visual interest. You can get the same 'detailing' as the 'Dart' caps by painting the insets on the 'DT' caps black like the painted ring - might give a bit more 'zing' to their appearance. Their not original to the car anyway, so what's a little more paint?

The F.A.S.T. Racing series will let you. Special rules of course.
Almost every car entered is running a hubcap or trim ring of some kind.
69 Runner 08-28-2008, 02:18 PM Are the polls closed yet?
Nope. Not yet. And I can always change it if need be.
On that other note, I ran my Challenger at the Factory Stock and Pure Stock races with the caps on. I used to run my Super Bee at the Motorplex with the caps on it as well. Hell, I even ran my T5 car at Green Valley (home of Mr. Bardahl) with the beauty rings in place
AdamR 08-31-2008, 01:33 PM I dont think it matter which you put on the car. Its bad as either way.

thebankerstoy 09-04-2008, 02:16 PM I voted for cap A. I just like the smoother look of them. Besides that, your car is so awesome that if I was looking at it in person, the cars hub caps would be low on my priority list of things to check out!
Richard
thebankerstoy 09-04-2008, 02:29 PM Here's a few cars with the smooth caps and a couple with other style wheels for you to ponder.

I like the look of the last one in the snow that's the same color as mine with the 1/2 white/blue rears and the Torq Thrusts up front.
thebankerstoy 09-04-2008, 04:09 PM Hey Steve,
The steelie back, mags in front, looks great and was very popular back in the day.
