318 oil pan removal - clearance?

Does anyone know offhand - can you drop a pan off a 72 Charger 318 (AT) easily, or are there clearance issues? It looks do-able while laying on my back peering up at it, but I thought I'd check first.

Thanks!

Yes it is doable, and I have done it exactly that way (on my back in the driveway) on my 72 Charger. Tight fit in a couple of places, but nothing that can't be handled with ordinary hand tools.

Thank you for the info! I'll pass that on to some of my friends. Does anyone know if this works on BB's also in the 71-74 B-Bodys?

I'd plan on jacking up the engine. I did at the balancer with both mounts loosened. It was a small block car. It just made removal easy. (very)

Dang centerlink. looks like my choice is the aforementioned jacking up of the engine a bit, or dropping the centerlink. Given my record with pickleforks, I'm gonna go dig up the jack.

Yeah, I've whacked and banged and hammered way too many pitman arms and linkage joints into early deaths.

But, just for fun, I pulled the castle nut and stuck the fork in and (knowing this wasn't going to do any good, but also knowing I had to try, 'cuz it would sure beat trying to free the rusted motor mount fasteners and jacking the engine), I gave it a few casual light taps.

And it separated on the third tap.

So I'm guessing that, if I can buy a few lottery tickets quick, I'll be a millionaire by sometime late Friday. When your luck runs, you have to grab it and ride!
