I am looking for a distributor for my '68 GTX (with an A/T). I took the original one out awhile back and cannot locate it (damn it!). I am looking for one that falls into the parameters of being date-correct and I believe anything 3 months prior (correct me if I am wrong) to the build date is acceptable. The build date is July 31, 1967. If anyone has anything, please let me know. I am just getting ready to go through the carb and want to setup the distributor at the same time.

I may have a dual point from a 68 440 Charger 4spd built in Sept of 67. Is your GTX a 4spd?

Steve, thanks for the reply. It's an auto. I should have mentioned that above (which I will change). Also, if the 3 month rule is correct, I would be looking for a distributor with a build date of March/June/July of '67.

The place in Florida that restores wiper motors also makes parts tags for distributors. So you can "make" the correct thing for your car

Well, it's kinda one of those things, Ben. What distinguished the "correct" distributor from one that isn't is something adjustable, and the parts tag on it. Once the distributor was assembled with whatever curve it was supposed to have, it got a matching tag. I can't really see how putting the proper tag on would really cause a fuss.......unless someone were gonna try to sell something like that on ebay for the purists to pay big bucks for.
Which is something I know you wouldn't do. So no harm no foul.
Besides.....if you were going to race the car and had the "correct" distributor set up for it, the tag would be meaningless at that point. Know what I mean?

I thought it would be nice to just find original parts since there are enough reproduced tags (incl. fender tags) out there all ready. If it comes down to it, I may have to go that route. As for racing, no I am not going in that direction at all with the GTX. That's what the '35 Ply Coupe is for.
