I used to have to work with TI Silent 700s years ago. The "fancy" ones had dual cassette drives!

I started as a VAR, selling IBM PCs, THEN XTs...ATs... 8088s running 4mhx to 80286s running 6mhz (upgradeable to 8 mhz) The PC2 killed IBM along with those pesky guys that would not sell their OS to them..:grin::grin:

DUAL FLOPPY DRIVES WERE AN OPTION....ON THE PC
A 10k HARD DRIVE WAS 1200 BUCKS....

LAW FIRMS LOVED "BERNOULIE" BOXES....A 5k OPTION, FOR REMOVABLE CARTS HOLDING 5k EACH....

Etch-a-Sketch. If it locks up, I just turn it upsidedown and shake it to reboot.

Last degree: MS CMSC UMD 85 I took a whole lot of time and money to get a good education. I will stop learning the sec I die.

It was and is the best investement, anyone, anywhere can individually make.

Real bummer for me to wait for stuff to tack up or dry. So, off to get another gallon of Acetone to cleanup another botched attempt to "glue" VC gastets on.....:black_eye:

OHD, WTHDATCLM? Are you trying to say something there that people outside the area of your educational expertise are able to understand? I'm trying to be funny here but the typed word in a forum context can leave a lot to be misinterpreted.

Oh and my point of connection is through DSL router with a Dell 8400 3 GHZ proc, 1.5G of RAM, and a couple of HD's approaching almost 200Gigs. Beats the the hell out of a 2400 baud modem on Win95

I got me a education in the 70's High School and College . Does it still count if I don't remember any of it.
My kids 14 and 21 know more about using this puter than I do. And I don't care how FAST you are or how smart you are or what Ivy shool you went to. I can put BIG letters after my name too.

Johnny cant spell, or right. I like fast food. I guess I'm FAST FOOD educated.
I dont use speel chk and I dont care.

He with the most toys wins I guess.
Lets just all post out anual incomes and see who makes the most.
Mine's bigger, faster, newer, and can leap tall buildings.
what ever.

Only computer I "bought" is my current laptop. Every other computer I've owned I built myself.

Ain't nuthin to it. A BFH and a crowbar is about all you need......

I think(therefore I have a headache) that the important thing is that we are here and want to be here, and can get here, and can post here. ahh the joys of technology.

Ive never had any tech training in computers but I got into them as a hobby
back when the intel 486 33/66 was king shat.
I had a close friend that had a business on the side building "IBM clones"
he went by the name of clone doc I learned alot from him.We used to go to computer shows buy all the crap then go home and build them it was fun. Ive built my own ever since then. I'm no geek I just like to learn everything I can about as much as I can. Yeah I had a 9600 baud dial up modem.
Back in the days when the Mrs would yell at me saying get off the computer I gotta use the phone.

First one I built was an 8088 with a 5 1/4 floppy and a 10 MB "full height" hard drive. Then I built a 286, then a 486, then skipped to a P2, and I don't remember what is in my shop machine.

DOS was fun.....:black_eye:

I just started getting the hang of DOS when windows took over everything.
I remember some salesman turd at a computer store telling me I would never need more than 8 megs of memory..Ever. He really knew his stuff.:rolling:

I think Bill Gates once said he couldn't imagine anyone needing more than 10 meg of hard drive space.

Now we're up to terabyte drives...
