moparstuart 08-29-2008, 10:26 AM This is not my car but i saw the car inperson two months ago.
Car is rough but it is a real 999 paint code . It is the chevy ralley green color under that nasty maroon paint job. Being such a rare color it is mostlikely worth the 10 K .

69 Runner 08-29-2008, 11:18 AM 10 grand seems to be a bit much for a car that needs a complete resto. The 999 paint code makes it cool, but as far as I'm concerned doesn't add $3000 to the value. I figure that car is worth 7-8 tops. BUT....if you feel comfortable paying what he's askin, then what I think doesn't matter
charger70 08-29-2008, 12:58 PM Also he claims the hood is not aftermarket.
I don't think 69 had a hinged 6pak hood.
Must have hacked up an original then.

He's not right bright so he can blow alot of smoke up your ass .
69 Runner 08-29-2008, 03:29 PM Nope. The only way a 69 came with a fiberglas hood was on an "M" code car, and they were not hinged.
I know. I owned one for 10 years
Chi Town Runner 09-01-2008, 10:38 AM Quote...."Hood is a real six pack hood and not aftermarket."
I agree with '69 runner that only "M" codes had fiberglass hoods.
But don't "read into" this. I think what he may be saying is that the hood is an original A-12 hood not a repro. I don't think he's saying it's original to THAT car.
But that's just my $.02. I'm sure you may be able to negotiate the price but as said before "what's it worth to you?"
Many cars that were overpriced 5 years ago seem like a deal today. If your not plannin on flippin it, it may increase in value depending on what you do to it.
Also, I believe code 999 in Green was a "'69 Dodge color only" released as ":Rally Green" code Ditzler #4402, spring special. Sassy Grass Green for Plymouth was "J6" Sassy Grass Green introduced in 1970. But I may be wrong on that one. I'm sure a color expert will correct me .
Good luck,
Frank :sixpack:
69 Runner 09-01-2008, 11:54 AM The "999" paint code was for special order paint. If you worked for John Deere and wanted your new runner to match, it would have had a "999" on the tag and been J.D. green. So on any "999" car you really have to do some forensic work to know what color it really was.
moparstuart 09-02-2008, 11:37 AM It is a green car underneath I have seen it ! Maybe he took an orininal a-12 hood and bolte on hinges ? I didnt look at that part of the hood ? but why would you do that and paint it body color also ? Crazy people in this world
addict4christ 02-11-2010, 07:18 PM Every 999 car i ever seen was petty blue ?????????/

The correct code in 1969 is 99. The three digit 999 appears in other years.
Rallye Green was a 1969 Plymouth only color and could code 99, 97 or 97E depending on the plant and time of year.
Any non standard color, and some colors offered by Mopar, code 99. As was posted above, if you wanted your car John Deere green and were willing to pay for it, the color code would be 99.

True, I have encountered several "999" paint code cars of several different colors,.......... I have found the best places to look for the true colors were behind dash parts and behind interior panels, ......because door jambs are too easily painted if the car happened to go through a couple color changes.
Donny 02-25-2010, 10:41 PM Or, send the car to your Mopar Media Blaster 'Dr. Blast', I can find the original color very quickly!
