I was watching it all unfold as well. Really sad. Later on I called a friend who lives in N.Y. to see if she was OK. She said she was on the subway headed towards the towers, but was running late.

Reminded me about Oklahoma city. A relative of mine who lives there was supposed to be at the Federal building that day. But he got a business call at the house which delayed him so HE wasn't there.

I was also watching as the Shuttle was coming apart over my head. I had seen it cross the southern sky during a night landing, and wanted to see it that morning. but it was to far north to see it from my house. I did HEAR it as it was passing over and breaking up.

Luckily I've also witnessed GOOD things in history as well, such as man walking on the moon. Makes me wonder about these kids these days. Having been a substitute teacher over the last few years I can tell you they are clueless and, unfortunately for us all, don't give a damn. I "lived in the moment" at that age as well, but was still aware of the rest of the world.

But I didn't have texting, or video games, or could get nekid on my web cam with some chick I didn't know.....

Getting ready to leave work. (Midnight shift worker.) Started to drive home and turned on the radio and started to listen to Howard Stern talk about what was unfolding. I thought it was a normal run of the mouth joke in a story form or something. Not wantingg to listen to chatter from Howard that morning, I turned the dial for music.

I walked through my front door and started coffee that instant. Then, the phone rings with my freind who lived in Va. at the time asking me if it is true? He knew before I did and told me to sit down and turn on the TV. I said what channel? He said any channel. Right there and then, I knew he was serious.

My brother was working on the top floors setting up confence halls and there sound systems. He was lucky that day because he decided to play hookie from work and do nothing at home instead. All his co-workers did die that day. No escape for them. After that day, it was him, the boss.

My cousin and his wife also worked in the buildings. One in each. His wife walked down many flights of stairs to escape the first aeroplane hit. My cousin called his wife and said "Leave now! I'm getting out of this one, you get out of that one and meet me."

They walked home back to Brooklyn.

I lost 5 from my town that day. A few I partied with and hung around growing up.

I was sitting right where I always do 5 days a week. Work.
Remember the showroom TV was on and newscasts started coming in. We had to all just sit and watch in total disbelief.

In Arizona, my wife woke me up and said happy birthday and then told me the bad news. I told her after wathing it for just a few minutes that from that day forward no one in America would ever forget my birthday, a sad day for all.

And that brings to mind the fact that this country is spending billions per day on a war to line the pockets of a few in the middle east rather than REALLY looking for the SOB responsible for 9/11.

I was laying in a hospital bed waiting to see if I could go home. I turned on the tv on the wall and thought I was watching a movie. Then I realized what I was watching and forgot all about going home.

THANK YOU to all the men and women who protect us everyday without thinking.

I remember it like it was yesterday. I was sitting down with some retired buddies as I had just been laid off and had free time in the morning. We all sat in disbelief as the events unfolded. I immediately got on my phone with my wife and let her know what happened. Word spread fast. We are in Montreal and SEVERAL flights were rerouted to us. I have never seen so much air traffic in my life. Then 2 hours later.....nothing. The skies were quiet for the first time I can remember. It was a eerie feeling. I was disgusted with what happened and I have not forgotten. Even though I am in Canada my father and sister live in the US in Boston. The realization came that it could have easily been Boston and not NYC. Then the sinking feeling in my stomach of what all of those people who have loved ones in the twin towers or on those planes. I fly the Canadian flag at home, but ever since for the week of 9/11 I proudly fly the stars and stripes out of respect for all of those that were lost on that tragic day. God bless all the troops from all the nations who defend against acts of terrorism.:unitedstates:

I was standing in the checkout line at Lowe's, buying a belt sander and a box of finish nails, when my dad called me and told me about it. Went straight home and turned on the TV. Never did get to the jobsite that day.

To all our heroes in uniform...THANK YOU!!
