I've spent several years in broadcasting and lost the Texas hick twang long ago. I can still pull it out at will along with a few other accents. The first summer out of high school though I worked in the oil fields down by Odessa and when you hear those guys.... It's way worse than just the other side of the river type stuff... The bad part was it rubbed off a bit and when I came back and worked a few bars as a DJ it was tough to shake.
